Since the USA annexed Hawaii, is that justification for China annexing Taiwan ?

Hawaii, a string of islands far from the continental USA was annexed in 1898 to facilitate the USA waging war against Spanish holdings and for a strategic base. Hawaii was independently governed prior to the USA using weapons to take it over.

Taiwan is an island approx. 80 - 100 miles from mainland China. It has an independent government now, but if China took it over, that government would cease.

Should the USA set an example for China and "free" Hawaii so China will leave Taiwan alone or is there some reason the two situations are different ?

This isn't 1898 when the US annexed Hawaii. The world is a much different place.

In 1959 93% of Hawaiians including native Hawaiians voted for statehood.

It's completely different.
So if a majority of native hawaiian people stopped getting USA military related "welfare" and "bribe money" and wanted to secede, you'd be okay with that ?

Are you saying that it would NOT be okay for China to seize Taiwan today because times have changed and seizing was cool in 1898, but seizing ain't cool now ? Are there are other things besides that ?

If China planted China loyalists on Taiwan and held a vote, that'd be cool if it benefitted them?

You're just being silly. I have better things to do than bother with this thread. Have a nice day.
