Skunk #1 phenotype variation

I grew out a fem Seedsman Skunk, was a real nice plant and buzz. Was not 'skunky.' I had such great luck with Peak Seeds Northern Lights I think I would recommend them for a skunk, or anything else they sell.

Funny you mention the Orange peel smell. I wonder if Orange velvet (tga uses for breeding) is a special pheno of the cali Orange considering they both have that distinct Orange peel smell

hey. im stoned.

I was watching the weed nerd and sub said something about orange velvet being skunk #1. He said it being like one of those rare pheno types. I have spent countless hours trying to find that episode but having trouble. I know its in one of his earlier weed nerds. Its what got me going on this skunk #1 hunt that im doing i would love to find that one orange skunk.

Have you smoked the seedsman cali Orange before?

hey. im stoned.

This is my first run with her. It was some seed that was given to me to grow. So far though the smell when you touch her is of orange peel and sweetness. but otherwise there is no smell.... I got about a month left on this grow I will do a smoke report on her once she is finished

Here's some week 5ish pics of Peak's Sweet Skunk. They're in 1 gallon cloth pots. They're a little sensitive to overly intense light.

This is what happens to the growth when it's getting too much light before it starts to bleach. Haven't had this happen before and it's the only way to explain it because the bottoms look better. lol. It is what it is, going to raise my tent up to the 8ft mark this summer.

Here's a mid - same plant.

And here's the cluster of 8 plants on the left... the towers of power there are gonna be gigantic budsicles.

Agent orange on the right skunk 1 on the left. I wanted to show how close they both grow kinda the same. Agent orange definitely has some skunk in it. The leaves are only just a little fatter. Otherwise they look alot alike.1434791101404.jpg

Wow, I had totally forgotten about this thread. I just started another pack of Seedman's Skunk #1, did a google search on phenos, and this was the number 1 result! That first pack from 6 years ago was great. Of the 5 seeds, 3 gave big healthy plants with a nice grape flavor. One was a bit smaller with the "juicy fruit" flavor. It was just like the gum, and it smelled and tasted great. Only one was kind of weak (the "minty" one). They all had nice clear sativa effects.

Like I said, I bought another pack recently. I've cracked 2 so far, and I just harvested one. It's drying at the moment, but so far it has a very light spicy, almost hazy aroma. I grew it under a 250W HPS with FFOF soil and Foxfarm nutes. Please enjoy the pix below.

The second seed I tried to do 12/12 from seed in a 3 liter soda bottle. Not a good plan. It didn't grow well and I ended up chopping it early and revegging it. It's revegging nicely now, and I'll take some clones and grow it better next time. Maybe it'll have that juicy fruit flavor I'm after! :bigjoint:

Skunk is an under appreciated classic these days IMO. The winners are about as special as anything.
Yes indeed, that is the truth.

Copy of catalog from which I purchased my first Skunk 1 seeds.^^^^^

I have grown out many varieties of Skunk over the decades, starting with Skunk 1 provided by SSSC circa 1985.
I loved the buds grown from these seeds. Subsequently, I purchased and grew out Skunk from many different breeders over the years since my initial encounter with Skunk.
Most of the truly memorable crosses I ever made were from some iteration of Skunk #1 using a male or female...

I am befuddled as to why Skunk#1 is commonly overlooked these days.:bigjoint:
IMO, these seeds are one of the best choices for any novice or beginning grower, as they are inexpensive and easy to grow.:leaf:

In a ten-pack of regular seeds a grower should find at least one excellent plant...

I did a Google search and found this thread so please forgive if this thread is to old. I grew a Skunk #1 seed from seedsman and was wondering if I may of gotten a cheese pheno. I don't have a pic at the moment. The buds grew very dense with very long white hairs. The hairs were white all the way up to harvest and never really darkened much. After drying and curing the buds are almost completely covered with orange hairs, so much so you can barely see any green. Has anyone experienced this with Skunk #1? Can anyone confirm if this is the cheese pheno? Thanks.

I've grown Seedsman feminized sk#1, and out of the 3 I've harvested I've gotten 3 phenos. One has fat buds and a grape aroma, whereas the other 2 have smaller buds and either a "juicy-fruit" or a minty aroma. The effects are similar, although the juicy fruit might have a little more body in higher doses. Is there supposed to be a lot of variability in this line, or is something weird going on?

Also, I usually grow singles from femmed seeds, so how much variation is typically seen in seed batches?

You and everyone else. The true road kill is in high demand. But Skunk #1 ain’t it. If it ever had the true road kill smell, it was bred out of it long ago.

Dominion Seed Co is working to recreate the road kill with some high quality older lines. I’ve seen high reviews for his stuff.

I haven’t found anything resembling road kill since back in the day when I was still in high school. With prohibition it fell out of favor and just disappeared, but people are working to bring it back.

Dominion might be the closest thing right now, people that have grown or smoked it only have rave reviews. He’s improving the line every year, and I’m definitely purchasing his new stuff whenever it’s released.

The Nature Farm has an old school skunk line that’s supposed have a high percentage of road kill phenos. Unfortunately, they sell out almost immediately whenever they release new seeds.

Bodhi and Strayfox have also been working with an unrelated Road Kill Skunk line. From what I’ve heard, most of the crosses with it tend not to do well indoors though, so not a lot of stuff has been released.

Check out this thread, lots of info for anyone looking for that stinky goodness.
