Slicing the Top of a Bud to Increase Resin

My friend told me a trick to increase the amount of resin that the buds will have on them. He said you get a razor blade and when the buds are still growing you very gently slice a tiny, not very deep cut, into the top of the buds. In his theory this will cause the buds to 'bleed' resin out of their tops (like when you cut a tree and its sap come out to form a 'scab'), and thereby increase the overall potency of the buds. Anyone ever done this?

I dont see how this could benificial to the plant as then the plant will divert energy into trying to heal the wound.

I would say the best way to get a resinous plant would be to select good genetics Known for high resin production and provide optimal conditions...

Plus MJ plants dont "bleed" resin like a tree bleeds sap.

I think he may be just guessing and using you as a guinea-pig. That is what Opium farmers do to the Poppy buds to make them bleed, they then go back in a few days and scrape off the residue that bleeds out which they collect and process it to make Heroin. You won't get that from a Ganja plant!!! It is a completelt different type of bud, I can't say it won't work for your plants, I wouldnt do it personally but, I guess, if you don't try you don't know. Keep us informed if you would. Good luck.

i agree slicing them dont make sence. the last couple weeks you should be wanting to seal the resin in the bud. anything that would come out by slicing ( if it realy did) would come of in your hands when you are triming.
