Cheers oldmed.. youve been a massive help.
Im going to top up with rhizo and rhino.
I only used rhizo when they were germinating.
Ph perfect will for sure be my next nutrient buy..
Some roots have a slight brown tinge appearing and im para its developing root rot.
Im unsure of what to combat this with.. and nip it in the bud so to speak.
Ive been throwing 2L frozen bottles into the res's to maintain 18 degrees, and upped the flow from the air pump slightly..
Id put up a pic if yiu could tell..

Ive just been looking at chillers on amazon funnily enough. Way to expensive for me.. i havent got big money to keep throwing at this grow.
I found iws spares online and im considering turning this into RDWC/(with waterfalls).. but dont think 16mm hose piping (all i could find fittings for) would suffice flow for the 60L drums effectively enough..
Use 1cm lines for waterfalls, that would be plenty of flow.

The only reason i did single site, is because i couldnt find suitable fittings for rdwc.. and i was impatient when the seeds arrived... id never heard of waterfalls either.
The only fittings i can find are to suit 16mm hose pipe.. thatd work for waterfalls,
But the recirculation at the bottom of the drums i figure itd be too small..??

But if its all connected back up to a separate res... surely id only need to pump out water for the waterfalls at the top, and itd return back to the reservoir at the bottom anyway?...

Bear with ne .. i will get my head round all this at some point lol

Yes, it really is that simple. Just the action of water breaking surface tension does the trick.

Roots tend to get tan/brown coloured later on and most often is just staining from the various nutes over time. Are your teeth as white as when you were a kid? Mine sure aren't. ;)

Root rot makes the roots all slimy first then they tend to fall off and you have them floating around in the pail/tub. When it gets real bad you'll walk into the grow room and the plant(s) will look like they are bone dry even tho they're sitting in water.

I hear ya about coughing up big money for your grow. I've grown on a low budget forever. When I moved up here from the lower mainland of BC to northern Alberta in '01 I brought 6 hash plant clones with me. After meeting a few locals that were into pot I picked up an old 400W HPS ballast and bulb for cheap from one and that got my flowering going a lot better. Bits and pieces over the years when I could spare some cash. Couple years back I got a little inheritance money and blew a couple grand on grow stuff. Light Rail, Trimpro trimmer, (want to sell that), couple bulbs, gallon jugs of nutes, big jar of powdered Big Bud. CO2 controller and relay etc etc. Doesn't take long to blow money getting grow goodies.

Still want a good portable AC unit and a tank of CO2 so I can start running a sealed room and be able to control the environment better. Need another grand for that. Chronically low humidity here causes problems. I've really slowed down my growing the last couple years as I don't sell pot and always have way more than I can use. It's hell I tell ya! lol

Would i be pumping too much water out of the res.. and it not returning quick enough if using only 16mm hose?
Id like to use hose for manouvreability ideally
I apologise for my unfamiliarity with metric. 16mm = 1.6cm = over 1/2", plenty of capacity for a waterfall.

The answer to your question gets down to how fast your tubsite can drain water back to your reservoir. I solved that problem by making my tubsites big enough so they were the reservoir.

It doesn't sound it lol..
I treated myself to this bad boy couple week ago.. arrived the other day.
(Don't mean to rub it in)
Sooooo overpowered for what 'i thought' I could use it for.. nearly blew everything away when I first tried it..
@12,000 btu.. the fans in it rival my inline. I'm just trying to figure out how could incorporate the air outtake lol
I bought a dyson HP02 last summer and it's over rated. So went full temp controlled air con this year!

Sure! Just place a small submersible pump in the water, make sure the other end of the hose it's attached to pours back into the tub above the waterline and done! The pump can be as small as 100gph/380 litres per hour for just one outlet.

It's common to have up to about 30 the supplier is trying get the most out of the filters. It could also be your TDS meter. I'm guessing a grocery store machine filled? And yes it should be less than 10 but not a big concern for your use

Aquarium shop i use does it at £2 for 25 litres. So bonus! As online it was around 8-9 for 10L.

They did put me on the spot a bit when asking what im using it for...
Ermm.. ummm ...discus! ;-) :-D
Lol that's about the best answer you can give. Explains away the volume and frequency you purchase. I prob would have just asked him what his annual profit was. I would assume the fact he asked you about it was that he is not using sterile containers or system and didn't want you drinking it.
