slowing growth..

Hi there, I have a question that I can be pretty comfortable that has never been asked before....
I'm looking for a SAFE way to slow the growth of my room. I will not be able to attend to them for 2 weeks at a time.
ATM they are drinking about 6 litre of water a day and growth is off the scale..
I was thinking dropping the Watts in light? There on a 20/4 period for veg, maybe dropping them down to 16/8 gradualy?
I don't want to harm them or cause any damage. Any suggestions would be great just really not sure how to go about it...

well, what is dwc?? anyway, yes drop the light intensity, you can prune a few leaves. less water. since there in veg you can cut alot off it will be fine. its harder to kill a vegging plant than one in flower. whatever damage is done can be repaired.

Sorry guys, I'm dwc. Forgot to put that down..
How big is your res? If its in 5 gallon buckets I think this would be hard to pull off. I dont see it being possible in 5 gallon buckets because it will deffinatly drink up all the water, let alone not being home to even stabalize it. In soil you would have much more options. I have transplanted decent size plants from hydro to soil with success, might be your only option unless you build a bigger dwc res like a 25 gallon rubber made tote and cut a hole in the top were you can just slide the 5 gallon top/net pot in the new lid of the larger tote. Even then you will have to worry about stabilizing your ppms and ph for two weeks while you are gone. If there is no way to get around leaving them unattended then you might need to transplant to soil or cocco if they are still in veg. Then you can rig up a drip system on a timer. Sounds like a stressful situation.

My Res can hold bout 50 litres Max... I have 2 in this setup.
There under a 200w cfl.
Thiking of putting a couple small 20w cfl in there.

You can buy a small pump for like $25 bucks and put it on a timer that can be adjusted. Then have a separate res of nutes to be pumped into your dwc res. Say the pump is 60gph, that means it will pump 1gallon in a minute. You can play around with it so you can have the timer turn your pump on for 3 minutes on monday and friday for example. You would just need to know how much they normally drink and undershoot it a little but I see it being relatively easy to dial in.

Ive had to play around with the same idea when I thought I had to skip town for a little bit. lucky I ended up being able to stay. Im running a pretty similar set up at the moment but they are under a 1000 watt hps. Your plants look good but I dont think your going to be able to properly light that bush up with your cfl. I would not veg it any longer, there is no point because wants she stretches your cfls are not going to penetrate that canapy for shot.

Sounds like a plan my good man... thankyou.
I think That's the go... second res, and pump on a timer to keep em wet
I'll put in enough light just to keep em alive, and cut it down to 16/8.
I'll give em a good prune too.
Any problems with this approach?

Sounds good to me, I think its your best shot. When I defoil pretty heavily it slows them down for a couple days. Other then that, try and keep it cool in the tent. The hotter it is the more they will drink and transpire. Best of luck.

I know nothing about growing in soil.... I've tried but had no luck...
That's Why I went dwc with a bubbler. But for reference I use grow micro bloom 3 part. Is from advance nutrients and it's Ph perfect.
Just to add mine are only about 6 weeks in.

I personally think HPS is the best way to go for flowering. Im very new to growing and have only used GH 3 part nutrients. Its hard to give a recommendation without experiencing others. However gh nutes seem great to me so far.
