a 400 watt hid only uses a small amount of electricity. probably not more than your frig or microwave.

no i dont think so but maybe ? arent those the ones where no meter maid needs to check its just like automatic or some shit if so then i think i have them, and a fridge uses way more then 400w id guess a computer is using 400 w withthe screen and speakers

The problem is these smart meters can read not only real time wattage but cycles like 18/6 or 12/12, and i hear it can also tell which device is running such as a 400 watt ballast. That could be a big problem for some! wether the heat are looking for just big grow ops or not.... its still concerning, so still wondering if anyone knows or has heard of someone getting pinched by this device?
Thanks for the replys.

If the Police are looking at your electric bill your already fucked. Just pay your bill on time all the time and you will be fine.

i found this article thats make me a little more at ease, however unauthorized access does not include police.
Is my usage information secure and will it remain confidential?

Yes. Ontario’s electricity distribution companies are required, by law, to ensure that the Smart Meters and communication networks that are put into place are equipped with security features to prevent unauthorized access. We must also comply with federal laws regarding the privacy, protection and disclosure of personal information. Any data that is sent to the central data repository will be provided in such a way as to prevent identification of an individual customer.
