smell is not a good judge of quality... generally speaking... we all know the difference between pleasant and desirable skunky/arm pit odors and truely unpleasant smells... obviously if you smell like amonia of something rancid coming from your buds there is prolly a problem... but typically how "skunky" your buds smell have no barring on the overall quality... there are strains that are notoriously stinky and some that dont put off a scent almost at all.. some smell nice and fragrant and some could knock a maggot on its ass... it just depends on the strain... if your strain is supposed to smell like an arm pit and doesnt you could have issues.. but since most of the smells are realized during the flowering cycle you cant really know till then... vegging plants can put off some smells... but they are far from the smell of the buds... wait until your about 4 weeks into flowering (if you arent yet) and see if you dont smell something familiar... if you are flowering and dont smell anything try to research your strain and see if its a "skunky" strain or not...
