Hi boys and girls

i have four plants under a six hundred watt grow lush hps light in a closet grow room they vary in age the eldest being around six weeks old

i have the lighting on an eighteen_six hour schedule and this morning i noticed that my grow room had a really big noticeable skunky smell to it

my plants are only around half a foot tall and i was just wondering what normally triggers the smell and is it a good sign that they are maturing?

i will post pics up when i get a chance

thank you everyone

UUUMMM, weed plants usually trigger the smell.

My plants started smelling at about the same time, if you have any browning and dieing leaves they will also cause a strong SKUNK smell.

Funnily enough the box really says "Grow Lush" i think it's the brand of lighting.

and yes, the bottom lower leaves have turned yellow and have been for a bout 3 days now. The rest of the plant looks a really healthy dark green.

By the way, they are growing in 4 litre pots with a 50/50 mix of Coco-Peat and Perlite.

Watering every 2 days with Natural Spring Water with Seasol / Miracle Grow alternating.

The dying leaves have nothing to do with the smell.
Sorry other dude.

The lower dying leaves are from the plant using up it's stored nutes.
They get the least amount of light so they are canibalized.

The 4 liter pots should be just fine .
The soil mix you have should be just fine also.
The peat moss will aborb the moisture like moisture control.

You should get you a moisture meter.
You want to water the plant with about half of it's volume.
So 2 liters in your case.
Then let it dry out completely between waterings.
Maybe 5-7 ds in your case.

Happy growing.

First of all I didn't say yellowing leaves would cause the smell.
I have a few plants growing and went through a problem and a few of my leaves were dying and turning crispy. They DID put off an especially strong weed smell. I never said that was the cause of his plants smelling, I simply said that dying leaves will put of a strong smell.

if there was no smell you could worry but if your plants smell bad/nice now there only going to get worse or should say better
you will need to get some sort of odar control eather make one or just buy a carbon filer and keep the windows open when your lights at its warmest

Mine are outside and I live in a rural area so I ain't worried about the smell of mine.I've always lived in the city so I'm lovin the fact that I got a crop.I've told a few friends from the city and their mouths kinda dropped at the thought of 23 plants.I don't think of it as much of a big deal.I'm just enjoying the expirence.

So basically I should be watering with 2 Litres every 5-7 days and letting it dry out completely before re-watering?

I'll also get a moisture meter.

Thank you all for your help/comments.

By the way, I don't mind the smell. ;-) vbmenu_register("postmenu_201822", true);
