Smoking to treat Borderline Personality Disorder

I personally suffer from BPD (F60.31 borderline type) and self-medicate with marijuana, in addition to psychotherapy and counseling. Anyone else out there who can kinda relate? What's your favorite smoke to chill out and analyze everything? How do you feel after you smoke?

Personally, I tend to stick with indicas for the relaxation. Sativa is more a recreational high for me...

Hey,
welcome to the personality disorder club! I am schizotypal although my shrink does not like to call it names as each mental disorder is so subjective. I don't really believe in psychotherapy or psychologists, they cause more problems than they solve. I as well prefer and love pure indicas with a high CBD content, my all time favorite is Ortega Indica from Dutch passion. I have episodes in life when I can smoke sativas without aggravating anxiety, but even then I prefer indicas or an indica dominant mix. I do occasionally experience panic attacks or depersonalization from smoking sometimes (although I experience that even without toking), but I am not going to give it up just because of that it brings more benefits than harm. Analyzing and over-analyzing everything sounds familiar, its just the result of intrusive thoughts (they become more apparent when high).

Any indica strain you would recommend?

Happy growing and toking!

I have the same problem but every time I smoke I get edgy and kinda anxious. I suffered some really bad panic attacks from some unknown strains I have smoked a couple of years ago (probably sativa dominant), and the only pleasant strains I've tried I don't even know what they were as I didn't even know there were different strains back then. the guy just told me it was weed so I wouldn't know how to find those strains now.(I'm guessing I need a balanced CBD\THC ratio) anyway I tried Greenhouse Seeds Bubba kush a few times as it is suppose to be relaxing and mellow but it only made me over analyze everything and made my anxiety worse. any suggestions on a good indica possibly with high CBD that will really chill me out and stop my mind from racing and just relax my body.??

Cheers
Tom

I'm nuts, too, but I don't know how nuts yet...

Smoking weed and doing L lead to depersonalization in those susceptible to it. The first time cannabis worked for me I was super out of body - so much so that I was walking and "came to" every couple of blocks for almost a mile... Also had a super awesome out of body experience on 6 phat drops of L...

yahhoooo!!!

If your docs suggest meds - make sure your docs are not old farts.. the old drugs are not good for borderline or shizotypal disorders... I mean Prozac, zoloft, etc...

ask you doctor about cymbalta.. lol jk

Ive just started smoking this year after quitting for nearly 20. I started back in august and even now I still dont take more than one hit per session. Granted its a good hit, but if I have any more than that I will definitely get paranoid. Im also smoking only top shelf, maybe I should downgrade till my tolerance goes up:)

I think the high CBD varietals would be great for you. You minimize the mental high and maximize the relaxation..
I've got Sour Tsunami working.... I hope I get the high CBD pheno -- one has the widest indica leaves I have ever seen... maybe it is she?

I know there are some high cbd strains available in cali unfortunately those are not accessible to me.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any strains that are commercially available worldwide and would work for anxiety conditions and not mess with my mind. now I'm looking for something that would be stable so I won't have to search for a magic pheno like it is with cannatonic for example that only 1/4 will be cbd rich

I have several anxiety disorders and DID and I prefer an early harvested sativa. Indicas put me to sleep to easily and then I get paranoid that I'm wasting my time. A nice early harvested sativa gives me a great initial head buzz that quickly declines into a mild relaxing but highly energetic high.

hmm i dont know anyone in cali plus i heard with Sour Tsunami u still need to search for the CBD pheno eventhough u got a 1/4 chance just like cannatonic and others like them that's not stable enough for me as I dont have time and space for pheno hunting. guess ill have to wait for The Remedy to be released after they stabalize it completely. hopefully some time soon we will start to see many CBD dominant strains just like today we see so many high THC varieties

WEll, the breeders wil have to select for CBD which has been lost because of our focus on THC.. I don't kow which of my tsunamis is the CBD pheno.. or if I have it at all.... I should call Larry Ringo and ask what to look for..

I hope you find your high CBD strain.. You can cook with your cannabis and burn off the thc.. or vape and burn off the thc first and discard that.. then smoke the cbd

well I'm not sure burning off the THC will work as most strains have very small amounts of CBD so that wouldn't be enough for anything, I just need a balanced ratio or CBD dominant plant.at least I think so, I'm not even completely sure CBD is truly what I need cause I have never tried any CBD rich strains but it sounds like it would be right for me according to what I've read. hope this won't all be in vain

Actually THC breaks down to CBN it's a common mistake, the CBD/THC ratio is determined by the genetics of the plant.
If that were the case we wouldn't need a high CBD strain we would just let the THC break down to CBD and that would have made it a whole lot easier

OK, I got my words wrong, but my theory is right. You can burn off the THC from your cannabis in a vape at low temp. This leaves you with any CBD and CBN, among other cannabinoids...
If you boil-off the THC first, you can just let that bag out into the room. Then you are left with more of the cannabinoids you need to block glutamate (neurotransmitter) excitotoxicity in your brain and reduce inflammation and anxiety.

Oh, and it is not called decarbing -- that was another mistake of mine. Decarbing is another thing altogether.

Yes, we do seek out high CBD strains, but in the meantime we have what we have - and that is a bunch of strains that we enjoy smoking (since we are stoners) plus the ability to boil off the offensive THC that we don't particularly like. This way we can maximize the cannabinoids we need to help us chill while excluding those that do the opposite.

Simple..

ya that's true that could work too but if you have a strain that has only small amounts of CBD like 0.4 for example you would need a whole lot of that to get a desired effect apposed to having a CBD rich strain. plus the ratio part matters cause THC contributes to the medicinal effects just not when it's too high and the ratio is unbalanced.
