I stumbled across this image when Googling SOG info/guides/etc.; it was in the same forum as an SOG thread. If this is an even slightly reliable method of discerning sex, then at this point all five of my plants appear to be females. Can it be discerned before flowering though? I've been hearing/reading that you can't tell till a week or two into flowering.

So far, the only problems I've has were in the beginning: the yellow/brown early leaves, which I've seen on this forum to be common with the AG. I've been reading and reading and reading all over this site, and it is directly due to the vast info you all have shared here that has enabled me to get even this far without any major questions, much less no major setbacks.... I thank each and every person who's shared their knowledge (be it from sucesses OR mistakes, as it's all a learning experience)!!!
Yes, they will pre-sex on 18/6
if they look like the ones on the right ... Congrats ! :bigjoint::bigjoint:

Lookin great Kat, the clones are doin good as well

I've heard obout pre sexing as well, havnt tried it but im sure it works, most the time, if you treat the plant good, with minimum stress, your more likely to have a female. Cant wait to see them start to flower, +REP

just chiming in to say best of luck, and i think plants prefer 4-6 hours of dark to 24-7 lighting ..they really seem to "rest" during lights out and perk back up in the on cycle:) imho.... and my cloning expierence tells me they like the dark time too...(root faster with 4-6 hours dark)...just my 2 cents best of luck!

They indeed do! Thanks!

5 females, huh? That's pretty F'n sweet, lol. Can't wait for mine to get to that point. Subscribed.
Yeah, I lucked out, eh? :p Thanks, I've still gotta find your thread.... getting harder and harder to keep up with everyone here.

Thanks for the dose of luck, always a plus. :) I had them on 18/6 for a few weeks, and they indeed perked up each morning after the lights start bathing them again. They're on 24/0 right now because the AG decided that they're in "maturation" stage now, and the lights & pump both started doing strange on/off times, so I had to reset the sucker. I didn't get a timer yet because in the next couple/few days I'll have the "Multi Spectrum Bubbleponics" system which I'll be using for flowering (which comes with a timer), and keeping two of the plants in the AG for mothers. I'll be going to the store most likely tonight, and will be getting a figure 8 cord and timer for the AG lights, then it'll be back to 18/6. After that, I'll be playing with 24/0 vs. 18/6, as there seems to be a personal preference thing about this one.... so I'll find my preference through experimenting with the two light cycles. :)

I didn't put them into flower the other night after all, because my hubby was able to transfer moolah into my account for the Stealth Bubbleponics system sooner than he thought he'd be able, and it shipped today. Also, I won't be transplanting two to pots outside after all, at least not for now. Instead of retyping everything over again, I'll just copy/paste most of what I posted to SICC's thread earlier today:

"Here's a handy little contraption I just found: Aerospring Light Stand for $45.... I'm sure it'd be easy for many people to build one of these on their own and possibly cheaper, but I'm not one of those people. Also, hanging lights from the ceiling isn't feasible for me, not only physically but also due to sometimes having the desire/need to move the system to another room, etc. Since I just ordered Steath's "Multi Spectrum Bubbleponics" kit (which was shipped today, WOO HOO!), I've been wondering how I'd manage hanging the suckers.... hubby's not mechanically or carpentry inclined, so I don't trust him much to hang my lights safely. (His talents are vast, but not in the area of building/fixing. LOL) I'm ordering this light stand today. It's so lightweight that if I need to move the unit to another room (and of course once we buy our house and move altogether), I'll be able do it myself without any need for help. Ease of use/maintenance is my goal as always!

BTW, don't know who's aware of this site for AG replacement parts/products, but so far it's got the best prices I've found yet: AG Parts & Accessories. Check out the AeroGarden Ultra Grow Liquid Nutrients for $12.99 (says it's a 1 yr. supply).... The AG nute tablets can be a pain to dissolve much less measure to preference/need, so I thought I'd give you a heads up on this new addition to the AG line in case you'd not heard of it yet. ;) Now that I found reasonable prices for AG replacement parts, I'll most definitely continue using it for my two mothers (one indica and one sativa, at least for the time being till I choose which works best for my needs & preferences, etc.) instead of buying/building something else.... and I'm going to switch to the new liquid AG nutes for more ease and control of nute balance in the AG."

Regarding the 24/0 vs 18/6, I tried 20/4, then switched to 18/6, and with just that little adjustment, I noted a noticeable increase in growth everyday. Just my two cents in there.

Yeah, I'm still being told that 18/6 is a waste of time by some (just one example here) and that 18/6 is best by others, and for all I know both hold true for certain (and separate) reasons. Also, of course the AG severely limits plant size and we don't want too much growth in height vs. development too early, so I can see why some people would want to keep the height part of the growth cycle down. I know my plants will be just fine on 24/0 for the next couple of days till the three I'm going to put to flower are able to be transplanted into the Bubbleponics system, and by then I'll have been able to obtain a figure 8 cord and timer for the lights on the AG for my mothers.... and even back to 24/0 the last couple of days (had to due to the AG's "intelligence" RE: time and growth), they're still growing very fast. However, it did seem to me that getting the 6 hours a night of no light helped them get their rest and then they'd "wake up" more revived than the night before. Having gardened all my life, I've known that part of photosynthesis with most plants is a daily rest period. So, at this point, I can safely say that it's most likely my mothers will be kept at 18/6 for lights (I'm not worried about them growing too tall as they'll of course be getting clipped for cloning), and I'll keep the pump set to 24/0 because I don't feel happy when the pump turns off. :)

Sounds like a plan to me.
