So i have an inspector coming... :(

He will be inspecting my grow area soon. he's a county inspector...

he comes routinely a few times a year.

im prop 215'd up so thats not my concern.

my real concern is keeping him from seeing my grow op as i dont want anyone to know whats going on...literally the people that know about it can be counted on one hand...(those closest and most involved).

so i'd like to keep him from seeing...

my idea is this...

tear down my grow area before he comes (not too hard as i've set my up to be pretty portable and easy to tear down/set up).

so i was going to move all the mylar, lights, growing supplies etc.

my main issue is my plants just started the 12/12 cycle...he will be coming at a time when they would be needing 12hrs of light.

he only stays for an hr to two at most.

i was going to put them in boxes (like you'd get from u-haul or a public storage facility) and hide them outside in plain view (they havent really started to smell yet).

my question is how badly would the plants be affected if they lost an hr to two of light they were supposed to get in the 12/12 stage?

will this be a good idea?

i thought it was best as the only other option i can think of is to get them off the property however they are too big/tall to fit on my car and i dont have the truck right now.

so i figured putting them in boxes outside was an genius idea.

will they be okay in your opinion?

yea man imo theyll be just fine. my plant has missed some light/recieved too much light due to my timer being a pos and shes doing beautifully so id say your idea is legit.

thanks.

im going with this idea because the grow space isnt in the best of areas so i didnt want to let any neighbors see me move them or whatnot. (felt like it would open the door to attempted robberies and home invasions)

so hiding them on the property in plain view seemed like the best idea to me. especially since there are other boxes i could put them next to so its really hidden.

this will be the last time i have to deal with him though because they come usually every 4 months...so once he leaves this time im started a new crop so the harvest will be complete before he arrives next time...

only reason he's coming in the middle here is because i got this one off on a slow start (2 months after his last visit).

*crosses fingers*

If you're really concerned about it throw a glow stick in each box. Should be enough too keep the cycle uninterrupted.

call me a n00b on this (cuz i really dont know) but what kind of lumens (if at all) do glow sticks put out?

i didnt know they did put out lumens.

i was thinking of trying to hook sum cfls in there but that would involve keeping them inside unless i find a clever way to run an extension cord to the boxes...

doubt it would work but i have awhile before he's supposed to come (few days/weeks possibly).

if i come up with something i will have to take pics. lol

Gotta make sure they're not green glowsticks though.

During my last crop I went to work and upon coming home found the light off (I'm guessing a power outtage and the light didn't turn on again after), I don't know how much time they lost but they turned out fine in the end.

ok. i was just thinking im already in the flowering stage...so some extra/unexpected darkness cant be as damaging as if they were the veg stage.

so maybe this isnt as serious as i was thinking last nite...boxes seem good.

and since it will be outside and surrounding neighbors smoke weed it should be ok. that way even if they do smell it would fool him into believing its a neighbor or something.

It'll be fine, I did the exact same thing... except my plant was late flower like 7 weeks and stunk like a bitch!!
I put her in a box and taped it up with no light overnight... she was fine and I passed the inspection.

ps: im growing illegally, so at least you're 215

Is he specifically coming to inspect your grow area? What kind of inspector comes to inspect a grow area?

ok go to walmart and buy the led stick up lights they have 3 leds and a sticky back they take a couple double a's stick one in each box and you have enough light to not stress your plants

i just thought of something...i plan on getting the boxes maybe 3 DAYS BEFORE the inspection...i dont know how tall it is from the bottom of the 5 gallon pot to the top of the plant at this time (not at my grow spot currently) but how much bigger should the box be in size to insure by the day the inspection comes they wont have out grown their home? because that would be simply a disaster.

i dont have any guesses since i just installed my 600w hps last night so im sure they will grow quicker (only using a total of 230 true watts with 23 watt cfls previously). how much growth should i expect a day (min to max)?? on a side note i averaged (with no stress) a half inch of growth (in height) per day...never more than an 1 inch a day.

all educated guesses/opinions appreciated.

(they are in the first wk of flowering fyi)

Do you have a tent - put them in that! I'd pitch a tent and then put some nice camp chairs outside of it - so it looks like you've been enjoying the great outdoors and if it rains, your plants won't get wet like they could get all soggy in boxes.

lol thats a good idea but probably wouldnt work considering my grow area is in a city not a town or rural area. it would look very odd and out of place.

and i already have some boxes with stuff in it outside that i been sorting through...thats why i figure it would blend in perfectly.

on a side note i really hope that 600w hps helps out my grow...i vegged the whole time with cfls...

36 hours continuous cycle has to happen 3 days in a row---I have a grow I just flowered. I sometimes miss their bed time and my vegging area cast a bit of a glow. I also just forced flowered another Grow and then tossed them outside to finish in spite of the time light increasing as well as the spring rays, she is flowering. Because I made her black-out 36 hour---3days in row. I get the biggest chuckle out of some of the threads that mention complete black out like the Switch lights are going to effect them. Toss em in wardrobe boxes and be done with it.

You could also go to wal mart (or any other store with camping supplies) and you can get battery operated lanterns to put in with your plants while he's there. Hey, you might even be able to take them back after you're done for your money back! I've heard of people doing this before but never had experience with myself. Just thought i'd throw the idea out there to you! Good luck!:-P

That`s no problem.Your plants can do without the light. What you don`t want to do is give then more than 12 hours of light .If you do it will break the flowering cycle..Good luck

haha this was just what i looked up online (different companies sizing and such).

i think its best as i know the pots are slightly over a foot tall and my mystery plant itself is over a ft tall...

so yea the box would have to be at LEAST ft high. these things are beastin under this hps...i hope i can find a wardrobe box big enough.
