So I just got pulled over....

I smoke and drive all the time, as a patient at that, transporting pounds of herb to top it all off. lol
smoking a j or blunt on the way. its really just based on the idioticy of the patient.
but i really dont belive it does anything but mabey make me relize some pretty stupid things, like for exp
did you see size of that trucks wheels, lol
and i really enjoy smoking a blunt on the way to my destanation, (not work related ofcoarse)
like to a buddys house...
but it is irresponseable, essp being a vendor, but its my risk i guess. im just extreamly nice when it comes

Alcohol not only effects your judgment but it also effects your vision as well. Cannabis doesn't effect your vision.. well, not nearly to the point as

But that's alright... the science behind cannabis is finally starting to get out there to everyone.. so that all these people that think potheads are

Thank you dude! You saved me the entire speech! I bet I absolutely would have passed any field sobriety test...after all, I was on my way to work where I'm a network administrator. Marijuana does not hinder my ability to walk straight and it definitely does not alter my judgment.

So don't give me that field sobriety test bullshit, because you're enabling the problem if you really believe that.

I was NOT smoking and driving! I smoked...then drove. Lets be clear about that.

To be honest, I am pretty surprised you even remember the conversation. Definitely some +Rep on that. That's kind of crazy that they didn't even know how what to do about it also.

It's one of those things you can never forget, lol
I don't think they knew how to handle it because it may have been the first time they've pulled over a medical user with the items that I had on me. I think they may have been trying to get me for the bowl or grinder but it's all legal for medicinal purposes. And I was straight-out, honest, and wasn't hiding anything.

Regardless, I'm glad it went the way it did. And if I was the first MMJ user that got pulled over and had stuff in their car, lets hope I set an example to the police.

And when I said I was honest with him about everything, that includes my purpose for using it. I think he knew I was being honest and that also goes along with how well I cooperated.

i dont know how long mi has be a medcinal state for. but if you were, you might not be as luck next time.
just remember to always listen and follow demands.
you a patient, the absolute worste they can do is detain your medication.

The proposal passed on November 2008 and I believe it went live in April of 2009. It hasn't been legal for very long but I would assume in that time frame that they would have pulled over at least 1 patient by now. But like I said, I still consider myself lucky and I hope there isn't a next time.

That is correct and I am positive they have pulled over many patients with the same situation.
Reality is that EVERY SITUATION is different and handled differently. Some cops respect and
follow the law and others think they know better than the laws......

I agree that you had a good result. You probably could have had just as good of a result by stating that your a patient when he says he smells MJ. At that point you hand him your Drs. letter. If he asks to search the car, ¨sorry, I'm late for work¨ You retain our rights this way and still stay cool. As far as freezing, I don't turn my car off if its cold or hot. If they ask me to I say ¨I would really like to keep the heater on¨ IF they insist then turn it off. Do not resist.

If he says drop trou and bend over are you going to cooperate? You can be nice to the cop it doesnt mean you have to bend over for him.

i dont think he bent over for him..he handled it great some cops in Mich are being total dickheads about the law so a certain degree of respect and courtesy is needed. nice job man, its nice to hear some cops arent total d-bags about it all.

glad it worked out, but as you said, it's new to them too and they are working out how to deal with the situations. a lot of states are starting to work together on rules/regs, so be aware of stuff coming up for your own state as others have stated as well.

- driving with a burnt bowl is seen as an automatic DUI, whether or not you actually were smoking. just like having an open container of alcohol in the front seat.
- keep your paraphanalia/meds out of arms reach or in the trunk (same as alcohol)
- they ARE coming up with ways to field test, but right now it's blood sample only from what I've seen.
- doesn't matter what research is out there, all enforcement from what I've seen so far are wanting to tag marijuana with the DUI rules .... so be vigilant peeps. med card or not, a DUI will fuck you (avg cost of $10K to take care of).

* good idea on 'reasoning' for why the car smells (take note everyone) - "I have kids and medicate in my parked vehicle at home. It is the only safe/closed location" .... works for me as well since I really do this to avoid smelling up the house and not 'contaminating' my son.

Right, if I have nothing to hide then why act like it.. and with the way that the economy is, especially in Michigan, they will hit you for anything possible. I doubt he would have wrote me a waive-able citation if I wasn't as cooperative as I was. So I bet I saved myself some money, too! I truly do understand my rights, and I wasn't about to freak out about them until I felt they were being infringed upon. I appreciate the cop was just doing his job and nothing more.
