So I love all the gardens, what about the dogs that guard them?

my simple argument...a pit, almost ANY dog would and could rip your kids face off, but if the thought NEVER crosses the creatures mind,(A NON CORRUPTED MIND) they have no idea what to do, it's not like they are sharks, when they taste a drop of blood they go nuts, remember a dog is a DOMESTICATED animal, meaning, they live with us because they AREN'T SAVAGE BEASTS AS YOU ATTEMPT TO PORTRAY
I agree...and if you didnt know, when the dogs were being breed for fighting, if they bit a human or were mean at all to one in the slightest, they were put down! as to not have that behavior passed on..can you imagen a mean ass pitbull in a pit fighting anouther dog, you wouldnt want it to turn on the humans in the pit. so thats how they delt with that. pit bulls are very loyal dogs and yes i would trust loki,oz or dibble around my girls way before i allowed your neg. around them...do some research on dog breeds, pit are not by a long shot bad. and if you hate the thread again just leave :) thats all it takes!!

So you love gardens, OK - what´s to figure out? Most of us do. The dogs that guard them, so what´s to figure about that comment?

Then you go off making some unrelated comment about pit bulls.

A breed specifically produced for fighting, and specifically bred to have an aggressive temperament.

A breed specifically banned by various dangerous dogs acts in various countries. For a good reason.

OK, anyone can say my pit bull is just a big softie - but would anybody with half a brain cell leave a small child alone with one of them?? The sensible answer is NO!!!

Beacuse that has happened lots of times and the kiddy has been mauled and the dog put down.

Anyway, I have nothing more to say about these horrific dogs - I will leave that to all the dopey kids who have no sense.
i dont know..your the one that said you dont know what it has to do with gardens....cant get much clearer then that my friend! if it wasnt for my dogs i would have got ripped last yr...they alerted me to the thiefs and all turned out well...a few kids that didnt want the dogs on them. and my dogs stayed 15 ft away like they were trained. so there! :D

Sigh.. here is a lil science for mr Spanish fly.

During a study in Lower Saxony in the temperament of several breeds including the bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers, pit bull terriers and 11 other breeds, no significant difference in behaviour between breeds was detected. The results show no indication of dangerousness in specific breeds, justification for specific breed lists in the legislation was not shown.

Although all dogs tested were confronted with stimuli with which aggressive behaviour could consistently be provoked, only 9% of the dogs showed biting with complete approach and earlier threatening behaviour. Of the dogs tested in the temperament test, 95% showed behaviours that were appropriate to the particular situation.

In another temperament test carried out in the U.S. the results showed that interestingly, the pit bull group had a significantly higher passing proportion (p < 0.05) than all other pure breed groups, except the Sporting and Terrier groups. These groups however, did not have a statistically higher passing proportion (p = 0.78) than the pit bull group. The group that had the highest proportion of breed groups passing the temperament test was the sporting group (85.48%), followed by the pit bull group (84.50%). The groups that failed, with the lowest proportion of dogs passing the temperament test, were the toy (79.01%) and hound groups (77.01%). The groups were compared to determine if there was a significant difference in the proportion of dogs from each group that passed the temperament test. It was found that there were no significant differences between the proportion of dogs passing in the two groups with the highest passing percentages (sporting group and the pit bull group). Both of these breed groups performed significantly better (p > 0.05) than all other groups.
Sporting group contains some of the more publicly accepted (as dogs of stable or good temperament) including Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers. More notably, the American Pit Bull Terriers showed significantly higher proportion of dogs passing the test than hounds, herding, working, and toy groups.

Reasons for biting are the dog is intentionally or inadvertently provoked, the dog is owned by someone who is ignorant about the characteristics and behaviour of the dog breed and has done nothing to familiarise him/herself with the breed or the dog is not properly confined, controlled or socialised.

Most dog attacks on people occur in the dog owner's home or in close proximity to it. Attacks on private property frequently happen when a dominant, protective or injured dog is not adequately supervised with children and visitors.

American records show that several TOY BREEDS have killed infants, and recent unpublished Australian study recorded very serious injuries to children inflicted by toy breeds. This highlights that all dogs should be trained and socialised, regardless of breed. Its the OWNER not the breed or the dog...............

SHALKE, E., et al., 2008. Is Breed-Specific Legislation Justified? Study of the Results of the Temperament Test of Lower Saxony Journal of Veterinary Behavior: Clinical Applications and Research, 3 (3), 97-103.

Toy breeds are more aggressive because they are small and cute so people don't discipline them and some have caused deaths and maulings of children too.

Imo, if something is taught to be effectively aggressive, then this ability can and does break the surface even if very well trained.

Spanish fly, you need to get out more. Pits are great animals and I have 2 small kids who play with my 2 pits in the yard ALONE and never had a problem. People just need to learn to train and love their pits and not try to turn them into aggressive animals, its a very misunderstood breed.

WOW! This is a great thread, the dogs who hang around the garden. I really wish I could post pics of my dog, a yellow lab. The problem is everyone loves my dog he is super de-duper friendly, and he has a ketchie name, so I would probably be found out. So we have this new thing going on in America its called "trunking" It's when two dogs are put into the trunk of a car, the trunk is closed and the dogs fight, when there is no more sound the evil people who put the dogs in open the trunk, crazy. The point is the dogs don't put themselves into the car people do, I could probably teach any dog to fight, or kill, its not the dogs, kinda like with guns, guns don't kill people, people kill people. I only take my dog to very remote grows, other wise if he hears someone he will run to them and start licking them, and want to play, I guess because I am so happy tending my plants he doesn't feel like other people should stay away, but I would have it no other way. Really love the dog pic's keep em comin. Oh and he does protect my grow another way, I use his hair to spread around my grows, this does really seem to help with the little furry bud biters. :peace:

right on i love that post..well the trunking is a bit horrifying..that is evil. if i want to watch fighting i watch UFC, two growen men who have signed on to be there. ppl who fight thier dogs are either severely immature, or of very low class, the word evil does come to mind...i do have dogs to protect my prop and my fam, but they havent been tought that, the first rabbit they saw they went crazy, they had it pinned in a corner, i told them off and they came back without anymore coaxing! they are just good dogs, that love us...now if you were to come and knock on the door they wouldnt even bark..if i let you in they would lay at my feet after greating you...just good dogs. i had a chow rot mix once and he was just great also..it alot about what you do and what your vibe is...

You are the biggest idiot in this thread, shit possiblly the world. Pits only attack when danger come to line.
My dogs, and one is a 110 lbs gotti, will let you pick him up, if you can, and swing him like a big baby.
hes never attacked anyone, and my niece rides him like a horse. They were not dometically bred for fighting eather.
there were bred in euope to control bulls. You had a wild bull in town, 3 pitts would take it down.
Gangsters are the reason thay have this rep. and your dumb ass. all 3 of my PITTS, full blooded, will protect
a new born child. sorry, they will. I leave my dogs with kids all the time, they even pull there lips for cryin out loud.
chokin them sometimes too, i catch em. But never an attack. So mabey people need to band you, cause i bet you have an iq of an 11 year old. you listen to everything everybody tells you. bet you didn know a chuwawawa is more unbalenced breed than a pitbull.
even german shepards are more unbalenced, i hate people like you, because of people like you is the reason there tring to band pitts and rotties from certain counties. Nice pitts all, heres mine, i need to take a pic of my mj, i do not have any, but heres sara and

Thats funny about the rabbit. My dog will run down the ground hogs, and if he gets lucky enough to head one off he will run around it wagging his tail until I come along and tell him "No bite, no bite" than he runs over to me drooling and tail just a wagging. I really can't think of a better source of compete unconditional love. Other than your own children, and we know how that changes when they get older.:peace:

Oh and I tell him "NO bite no bite" not because he has ever bitten one, its just what I say to him, and its usually in a childish voice. Heck he hardly bites his food lol.:peace:

IMO he has a point, it doesn't matter if you are training it well, as he rightly sais, it has been bred for aggression and power.

And you might reconsider the idiot statement, considering you follow it up with "pits only attack if in danger" because i would need quite some convincing that all the tolders that get killed in the UK by these dogs acted so as to cause the dog to feel alarm and such. After all, the dpogs in a lot of these incidents were trained well, yet they still killed the kid. Only a fool would dismiss there being any danger whatsoever simplu because he's been trained well. I would never leave my baby around ANY dog, it#'s called being precautious. The dog cannot speak and tell me that it is not going to do anything so i do not assume that is the case. (personally i don't understand why anyone wpould opt to buy such a hideous dog if it wasn't for aggression/protection reasons)
