So I'm a little confused when to apply nutes????

Ok so first off I am using fox farm happy frog soil. I am told this soil is rich and I won't need nutes for the first four weeks? So does that mean I won't be using much veg nutes? I plan on vegging a fair sized plant, but not too big....as I know it will get double the size in flower! So....after 4 weeks (28 days right?) of vegging with no nutes.... Do I start adding 1/4 strength Grow nutes? Or....should I go straight into 1/4 strength Bloom nutes and work my way up? I am going to be using Iguana Juice if that matters. Also if I want to incorporate a bloom booster as well, when and how should this be feed? I am assuming along with the Bloom nutes? Thanks for any tips.

Hi bro. Im in coco at the min and dont have any real clue to fox farm soil but what ive read on here its really hot so yeh ur right in what your saying with the nutes, you growing from seed or have u got clones??

If you have clones they maybe ready for nutes after two weeks it just depends on the strain. Some will take nutes for fun and others will only like a bit. Just keep your eye on them very closely and see if they go lighter as the weeks go on. If so then start to feed at quarter strength for the first few feeds then bump it up to half and so on. I guess your clued up for signs of nute burn?? Its better to underfeed than to burn them! If your starting from seed then yes it could well be four weeks until starting to nute.

If your planning to switch after 4 weeks then yes you still have to use your base nutes with blooming nutes on top of that. But for a nice size plant then let your girls get to at least 2 foot in height and maybe let them show there sex in veg. If you do this u can count the days from the switch. Well thats what ive done anyway and i seem to be right on track with my first grow. Check my pics out on my latest threads. Hope this helps brother, good luck!!

Ok water, water feed good advice. What do you mean by base nutes plus bloom notes? I think that would be over nuting. My nutes are iguana juice grow and veg. I was thinking I should introduce the Iguana Veg notes at around 28 days or 4 weeks.... First at 1/4 strength and gradually increase. Then when I switch to 12-12 would I start with the bloom bites at 1/4 also and gradually increase also?

Also with your feed sched do a
Water/water/feed so you dont overnute!
Happy Frog is a very heavy medium texture-wise and can take a long while to dry out.... so be careful not to over water or this will slow root growth.... also Feed/WAter/Water is a good piece of solid advice... but in a slower draining mix like Happy Frog it can sometimes work out to only feeding like every 2 weeks in veg and maybe even early flower depending on container size.....

Also as far time to add nutes... this is plant dependent generally around week3 or 4 starting at like 1/4 or 1/2 dose and working your way up with each subsequent feeding.

Thanks for the tip on Happy Frog's. I have taken care to add about 30 percent perlite to it for drainage. However thanks to your tip I will really watch watering. maybe twice a week instead of 3 times?

The perlite will help so that is good.... on top of that water when the top layer of your soil is dry and crusty....

OR a better rule of thumb for watering is by the weight.... Pick up a pot that is just dry medium and try to get a sense of how it feels..... then do the same with one that is throughly saturated..... Somewhere in between these is when watering is needed, you will get the hang of it... until then a good visual signal is like I stated above....

When the top layer of the soil is dry and crusty.... ( you can stick your finger down past the dry layer to about the 1st knuckle, or in between you 1st and 2nd knuckle if its feels like its barely moist to semi moist you can then water nice and slowly and thoroughly..... After awhile though you get the hang of the weight thing.

when you say feed/water/water what do you mean? does that mean 1st session is nutes. then when you dry out 2nd session is water and third as well, then repeat?

This is true. I ended up tossing my FFOF outside around my shrubs. That stuff is hot as hell. I'm using HF right now and just fed them FF big bloom and grow big 1/2 strength because they were looking a bit deprived @ 3 weeks.
