So is 24/7 light bad for your plants growth?

no, my argument is common sense, not technical bullshit or c+p from a source of information comprised of individuals you have never met. wiki? come-the fuck-on.

what about practical experience? years in trade? do they mean nothing? as i said, if you doubt, do an experiment. it'll take a few weeks, can be done on a small scale, and you'll learn something either way.

the FACT of the matter is, more light = more plant = more roots. the idea that roots grow most during a dark cycle is asinine, it makes no sense and is not logical. so, you can read read read, and spout what you've memorized, or you can see for yourself, and TRULY have an opinion on the subject.

lol

im with you KP... the wiki entry was for lazy88.. so he would have book proof that photosynthesis in no way shape or form needed dark to be complete... like you said.. experience says it all... i didnt think that roots would grow in light until i was proven drastically wrong... they might thrive in a dark area, but can grow in light... but the idea that they ONLY grow when the lights are off, that photosynthesis can only be completed with dark, or that plants only use energy if they have a lights off period is asinine (as you put it) at best...

if 24/7 light was the best, everyone would use it.and there wouldnt be any questions and arguments over it!!?
and ur not going to get those buds on 24/7 light inless they are auto-flowers.. still need dark time to grow!!!! end of story.
we can argue till we are blue in the face..and in the end it will be like winning the special olympics, even know you won, your still a loser...

I've been growing for 20+ years indoor and have for the most part used 24/0. I've tried 18/6 and only got longer node spacing. The plant is taller with the same node count or less.

nice argument!

that pretty much sums up the intelligence level of most of the "teachers" around here and other forums. what's the song? "i'm so much cooler online..."

WE ALL KNOW THAT YOU NEED DARK FOR BUD PRODUCTION.. THAT IS NOT THE ARGUMENT.. YOU SAID THAT IN ORDER FOR PHOTOSYNTHESIS TO BE COMPLETE YOU NEEDED DARK... THAT WAS WRONG... YOU ONLY NEED DARK TO FLOWER... OTHERWISE YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE ANY DARK PERIOD.. YOUR PLANTS WILL FLURISH, YOUR ROOTS WILL GROW, AND YOUR PLANT WILL CONSTANTLY GROW UNDER 24 HOURS OF LIGHT.. 18/6 AND ALL THE OTHER VEG TIMES PEOPLE USE ARE FINE TOO.. ITS UP TO THE GROWER AND HIS CHOICE...

thank you for making the point i couldnt put my finger on... +rep for saving me the brain work.. lol

A plant is an engine. Photosynthesis is the process the engine uses to operate. Light, soil, co2, water, and seed are the catalysts for the process. A plant is self repairing, the perfect engine. And an engine likes to run.

YOU WANT PROOF

wil if you do your own clones then you would notice that if you have no roots comeing out the rockwool cubes or jiffy pots when the lights go out, and when the lights come on WOW there is roots pokeing out quite a bit. um that means roots grow when lights are out.

they will just as easily pop out under 24/0 lights as 18/6.... its just that they happened while the lights were out verse while they were on... it doesnt have anything to do with the dark period itself.. unless there is a side by side comparison that shows (day to day) that 18/6 roots pop out faster than 24/0 that argument doesnt work..

i have done this already no pics though. that all i ran was 24/0 my 1st 3 grows with cloneing under 24/0 and would have roots in 12 to 14day. when i switch to running 18/6 doing the same things to my clones i now have roots in 6 to8 days.

i use a 24/0 cycle for my clones and manage roots in 5-7 days... after 10 days they are long enough i have to coil them if i cant dig deep enough...as you said... to each their own...

um. i'm sorry, but i must call you an idiot. cuttings root due to hormones, but need light to do so. roots will grow before the plant grows, and the cuttings will use energy stored in the leaves to produce the root growth. this is why big fans on cuttings go yellow.

if you do your own clones for a few more years, you'll have a better understanding of what i'm talking about ;).

i get roots in 5-6 days with 24 hour lighting.
