So there I was...

This was back in Janurary of this year... My girl and I find ourselves standing in a freshly remodeled home, new on the market. We absolutely loved it... not for the remodeling (though that helped) but for the hidden rooms in the back of the house! Two rooms built in behind the back of the garage; one completely open, ready for my HD projector and movie couches! The second with a bitchen huge indoor hot tub, though the papers said that the condition was unknown at time of sale.

We ended up buying the house for many other reasons than these hidden rooms, but super cool regardless... I'll have to post pics at some point. So, its been 6 months now since we moved in, and I've got all kinds of crazy ideas for this room. I havent spent any money or time researching the condition of the hot tub... I dont really care to have it now that I've got grand visions of a grow room in my head. :-)

So, the hot tub room is roughly 12' x 12', and I'm eventually planning on ripping the hot tub out of there. The walls are all covered with that paneling that you find in a sauna room, and I would love to keep it that way. It has a great feel to it.

After that long ass description... I have a question for everyone. If you had the opportunity to have a hidden room of that size, how would you set everything up??

Wow, I would need some time but one thing I would do myself is set it up so you can veg. and flower at the same time, meaning I would find a way to partition the room maybe even with some panda plastic. How much are you planning on growing? What kind of ventilation is going on in there? Hot tub sounds tempting...I was in the hot tub while watching my plants grow...lol. What is your budget, you could get some really killer lighting going on. Is the room air conditioned? Do you plan on harvesting all year round or just a couple of times?

I'm pretty bored at work today, so I'll probably hang around for another half hour and head home for the day... Once I get home, I'll snap some shots and post them up.

I'm not really sure how crazy I should get. The other half isnt opposed to growing now that she realizes how much money we're going to save by not paying three bills for an oz. haha I think as long as I can keep the smell down (I have a brand new hepa air filter here at work that's going home with me today) then I dont think its going to be any problem with quantity. I would like to be able to grow enough to keep her, I mean our habits at bay. So, if I could produce a couple ounces every few months, and possibly have enough to supply the local friends then I would be happy as a clam.

I have a pretty diverse background with horticulture, but I honestly dont know much more than the basics regarding hydro. Im definitely not opposed to it, but it would surely be stepping out of my comfort zone.

I dont really have a budget or an idea of what to spend... I am a big DIY kinda guy, so anything that I can do myself is preferable. I wouldnt have any problems partitioning off the room... I'm actually planning on re-sheetrocking both of those rooms before the end of the summer, so it would be nothing to toss up a wall back there once the hot tub is gone.

Anyhow... I'll snap some shots when I get home.

Thanks all

Ok, so here are the pics. Sorry, they're kinda hard to take and my camera wants to take a shit on me. The moving pads are being used to block out the windows, as well as cover up my 9 week old plant.

I'll try to get some better shots but if you've ever taken pics of a room, its pretty hard to get the majority of the room from one shot.

Shoot away with questions... I'm going to go start some dinner, and see what the other half left in the stash jar. :joint: I'll check back in a bit.

Thats a shame, I can barely make em out. I would hate to get rid of that tub, maybe you could grow around it. It looks like your deck could support some plants, and if you have plenty of vertical space it could work. When they grow up, you could just lay back with your girls around you. Like the idea though.:hump:

I agree, the hot tub would raise humidity and temps in the winter.

Wouldnt it be nice to chill out in the hot tub with your plantsvflowering all around you. I personally have a chair in my room so I can chill out.

Yeah, so I suck at the whole picture thing. I dont know if its the camera, me or both, but one of us isnt doing it right... :-)

So, I did a handy little drawing here at work, and after a head pounding 30 minutes of trying to get the size right... I have a working jpg file! Hopefully this will be better than the pictures as far as giving everyone an idea of what there is to work with.

I can knock the wall down between the two rooms and/or basically do anything with it. I ordered a HPS 400w light set up last week, so that will be ceiling hung over the floor space for my two plants while I figure out what to do with everything.

Fire away...
