Soaking dug holes before filling?

Halloo!
Im off to my site today getting stuff ready for a few girls going outside. Ive dug the holes, and i was just thinking that before i full them with my compost/perlite mix, it might be a good idea to pour a few litres of water into the holes to moisten the soil. This is bone dry at the moment, and i figured the plants could use the extra water and maybe it might encourage the roots to strech out.
What do you think, does anyone else do this?
Cheers!

If you're worried about water .You might consider some water retaining crystals spread throughout your soil.

If you can't get that, some type of natural water retention can be made from old dead wood etc. and dispersed throughout the hole. Some people even use a rock or board at the bottom of the hole to slow the drainage. Good luck.

we always dump a gallon of seaweed juice mix in the hole under the plant when transplanting from 2 gallon containers to 30 gallon bags and have great results doing that roots love it and plants dont get shocked much at all

I just water good after transplant and I refill my holes with my mix ....I haven't had any issues ....if there's gophers in the area your planting. I'd worry more about keeping your roots safe from them little basterds than anything .....GL

When I think of it, I add red volcano rock to my soil mix. All those little cracks hold lots of water.
