Sohum Seeds (Southern Humboldt Seed Collective)

Found a couple packs from these guys I picked up a few years ago in Norcal. Price tag shows $100 on the back for 10 seeds fyi. I believe I got these circa 2012 right when CBD was just starting to be talked about. Sohum were some of the first guys I found that were breeding for high CBD strains. At the time as I recall, it was Mr. Nice z7 stuff, cannatonic, and these guys really. You started seeing Harlequin and ACDC not to long after.

I have a pack of Sour Tsunami and Purple Cheesel from them. There's been so much interest of high CBD strains in my circle that I decided we really need to get these out there. Starting the pack of Sour Tsunami in a couple days.

Anyone else have any experience growing this strain or any other Sohum gear?

There were a bunch of fake Sohum seeds sold to dispensaries in NorCal during the time frame you’re talking about. I hope for your sake you got some real ones, but I’ve haven’t seen anyone who has.
I know about this because when I went into my local dispensary to buy some of the Sour Tsunami seeds for my garden they informed me that they had pulled all of the Sohum seeds they had off the shelves because they’d been verified as fake. Apparently the dispensary tried growing some of those seeds for themselves and were furious with the results which I believe turned out to be hemp.

Always want to help and to save someone's life is the best feeling in the world the ultimate good deed. If they're that helpful we'll make sure and make a bunch to give out.

That's pretty cool though. How did the cbd change/save your life if you don't mind me asking? If I'm prying, just tell me to screw off! But I'd really like to know.

My first experience with a cbd strain was in Sebastopol at Peace In Medicine, my fav dispensary. They had a clone and I scooped it up, grew it out, and fell in love with it.

Pineapple Thai yielded like crap, grew like a Thai sativa with lanky long internode length but the best tasting pineapple smelling bud that made me feel so calm and serene like being on a beach soaking up a perfect day. I was dealing with some PTSD and anxiety at the time and the pineapple thai really helped. They said it had a 3:2 THC:CBD ratio at 15%THC, 10%CBD and it was some of the best weed I ever had effect wise and taste wise.

Are you taking straight cbd only, or a mix with thc? do you have a preferred ratio? or just anything with both?

Interesting you say that. I'll have to look back in my notes but I did grow one pack of a cheese cross from them. Wasn't the purple cheesel that I have, but maybe some other cross. I grew them out to test and remember that I wasn't very happy with the results. If I can recall, the buds looked fine but didn't have much of an effect. I can't remember if it was a cbd strain or what, but I rememb....actually, looking at my notes now. let's see for real if I have something.

Okay so my notes say I had a pack of OG Ringo and Ringo Sour Diesel and the SD died in my super hot greenhouse we were testing. Had a few of the OGR and gave them this guy Will that I volunteered with over at the Burbank farm and never followed up with him to see how they did. Lost contact with him over the years so don't think I'll ever find out.

So I really have no clue if they're real or not. Got them at Mercy Wellness in Cotati that's still there...still in the dispensary packaging. Plan is, just like every other pack, to grow them out and see what's good. Then get them tested for thc/cbd/other cannabinoids. For plants with super high medical potential like these, I will keep all that pop and test all of them before culling.

I basically didn't eat food for 4 months, then a friend gave me a sack of cannatonic #4. I turned it into coconut oil capsules. They made me fucking eat.

Ive only messed with 20:1,can't say much on others except many ratios are doing good things for people. A lot of growers only want to mess with high thc plants but having a cbd girl in a corner is such a blessing for the right person.

That's great info thanks for sharing!

The hemp guys/CBD growers seem to have the high CBD/low THC market kind of cornered and are producing it by the acre. It seems the CBD over the counter products are taking off and some are not too expensive. Have you tried any of those? Did they work?

Once we get them up and running (and make enough money :) - things are still pretty tight and I'm using my life savings to fund everything) we need to find a reliable source for testing cannabinoids. I'm not to optimistic at the moment as for accuracy and consistency in the testing now so need to learn a lot before picking.

Had experience using Steep Hill in Oakland, but don't know anyone here yet. SH used to charge around $40 per sample if I can recall. Would love to find a better test with terps one day too, but that's another story.

My first experience with cbd was a hemp cbd lollipop. 30 minutes after ingestion I went and got a double cheeseburger. An hour later I ordered a large pizza and ate the entire thing.

Hemp cbd can be good but it is super unregulated. People are getting scammed but there are good products out there too.

CBD is life. It is a restoration of life for many.

That's awesome! And a lot of food! Can't believe it works that well for you. Had no idea. I'll work even harder on these now :)

Unfortunately, none of the ringo's gift seeds germinated :/

But never fear, I have a couple more things I'm working on now, plus the Pineapple Thai clone we carry. It's reported to have 15% THC and 10% CBD from the place I got the original clone from in Sonoma. I also have some Charlotte's web crosses that should have some nice high CBD phenos and some Ethiopian genetics that should have some high CBD content as well. Plan is to grow them all and eventually get them all tested for actual numbers.

Only problem is testing is very expensive for flower. $375 is the lowest I found so far and you have to submit 7 grams I believe. I don't have an extra 7 grand lying around and can't afford to get 20 plants tested lol, which is what is needed. Shortcut is hash. You can submit only 1.5 grams of hash and testing is only $45. So I'm thinking I'll group them all together by strain, make some hash, then have the 1.5 grams submitted for each strain. Then I'll at least know which ones have the most CBD and work from there trying to identify the best plant.
