Soil Grow 3000 Watts x 30 Babies x Sativa Dominant!

So I talked a lot of preparations for a grow. When I talk I am not shitting around. I was 100 percent serious. Now I am here and have prepared my grow lab. To discuss the preparations, I have a small clandestine room (100 percent legit with paperwork etc. but don't want to alert the neighbors and landlord) pics will follow of my sealing job (blacked out window with ventilation for "AC") and miniblinds, with visqueen plastic behind.) the ventilation system is a air plenum with a 550 CFM phresh filter carbon filter and a 600 CFM fan for air out, with an active air intake max-fan variable speed 100-350 CFM fan. Right now I have one air cooled 1000 watt light hooked in, soon to come two more 1000 watt lights to put these babies into flowering.

Now lets talk genetics.

the first 15 babies are clones of NY Sour diesel, not the best indoor strain but hey, I have always wanted to do it. The next 15 are undecided, but will not be a 10 week strain so they can wait as these ones have been in veg for only a week. They were tall clones when I got them.

As for nutes, I will be going with the House and Garden line for soil. right now I have acquired Roots Excelurator, as well as BUD XL, drip clean and magic green. Still need to pick up the Soil A+B, the shooting powder and the topping stuff to tell the plants that they will die soon and maximize the bud site production.

I am wondering what will be the best way to train these babies. THey are some lanky little mothafuckas. hehe. They came as clones with a little nute burn I think. take a look for yourself.

If you look above that though from the new growth since under my care it is all healthy shiny green especially with the foliar feeding with magic green! tell me if you think my problem is not a problem at all:

I am worried about smell control and pest control, naturally being in california and all. Never experienced cali before. Also, do you think air pruning smart pots would make a big difference in yields? is it worth the extra 3 dollars per pot? Anyways this is my little pet project and if all goes well then I can move into a bigger venue with much more equipment. my fate lies in your hands fellow RIU members. Any feedback is welcome! what do you think?

So I am dissapointed that nobody is putting in their 2 cents but I am going to continue on anyways. I decided to go with totally smart pots, I have 19 of them potted in 5 gallon smart pots and the rest are still in 16 oz cups. I am putting them into flowering as of today and they are going in at three stages, I have the following:

3 Jack Herer X Skunk crosses @ 3 months of veg
4 Jack Herer X Skunk crosses @ 3 weeks of veg
15 NY Sour Diesels @ 2 months veg
10 Lavenders @ 1 month of veg

Obviously the small ones are the ones that still need transplanting. I am going to be doing that when I install my second and third thousand watt lights this weekend. It is most definitely going to be a small jungle in there. I don't have any dedicated photos of the biggest plants but I will show a size comparison of the small ones and the big ones from a week ago. The one with the big plants in the background is from about 3 weeks ago.

smart pots are the SHIT! i noticed about a 20% increase in yield with air pruning containers. the only problem is that they are non re-usable. at least the smart pots aren't The way i figure is that if it costs an extra 50 or 100 dollars its worth it to produce 20% more.... just my opinion

hey penguin king, I am under the impression from multiple people that I have talked to that the smartpots are completely reusable, you just need to wash them. But that is what I heard, that I would see a 15-25 percent yield increase with the use of smartpots. I figured the same thing, what is the extra 100 bucks if I would significantly increase yields right? go big or go home!

lookin good so far dude. Are you gonna be using all HPS or u gonna mix mh in there?
I would love to use a metal halide as well but at this point I just cant afford the wattage. All HPS right now. putting up the wattage to 3000 tomorrow. damn hydroshop is closed for the 4th. damn patriots. hahaha. you think the full spectrum would make a difference for flowering?

PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES!!!!

So I am updating as all my plants are now smartpotted and under 3000 watts of beautiful sunny High Pressure Sodium Lighting. Not digital for now, will upgrade ballasts next round. for now we are allll good. Anyways, I am very happy with the way things are going. need to introduce a little cal mag for a nitrogen calcium deficiency I am experiencing in the little lavender guys but other than that things are looking great. I am 12 days into flowering about and The sour diesels are starting to bud, but the J1 (Jack Herer X skunk) and the Lavenders are already becoming dense with buds. You can see the difference between the 8 and 11 week strains. Anyways here are some pics to observe. dense foliage. when I harvest the crosses I will give the NY Sour Diesels some breathing room for the last few weeks!

Well I have noticed rapid growth upon transplanting, but I think the real difference will be in the next 6-8 weeks of flowering. These five gallon babies are already 4 feet tall, they will most likely finish over 6 feet total height, probably have to scrog them to keep them from burning! I love the smart pots though.

I am wondering what yields could be like, Everywhere I look on the internet, I see different answers for yields for New York City Sour Diesel. 60 grams up to 5 lbs for out door. I would guess the average indoor sour Diesel plant is pushed right into flowering though after a very short veg. my vegged for 2 entire months and were on average 30 inches in height at start of flowering cycle. also they are not in your average 2-3 gallon pots, they are in 5 gallon smart pots! I am using a full house and garden line of nutrients with multi zen, bud xl, top booster, root excelurator, shooting powder and everything! I have just added a tiny bit of bush master to control their height though. Anyways, I am excited to see what happens but if anyone could give some insight into this sativa dominant yielder that would be great.

factors:
stable PH of 6.0ish water
Full H&G nute lineup
Cal mag for all nutrient deficiency issues
Bush Master at 2nd week of flower to control height
30 inches at point of flower cycle start
5 gallon smart pots
9 plants per 1000 watt light

Thanks for your input experts!

I think you are doing a excelent job. In know you have had plenty of advice. The people who are saying MH are on the right track. But in my opinion, nothing beats CFL's for Veg. Keep going with the 1000W HPS and yes, shit 3 X 1000W hps for flowering would be sick. :-) But for the vegging ad some CFL's with your hps. The baby vegging plants just loves cfl's trust me.

Ah the big yield question, everyone looks for that answer at the start. My advice, don't worry, but measure. So when you harvest dont have any expectation, but make sure you weigh the dry bud when finished and note how much grams in total and devide by the amount of plants, that your avg per plant then, Then you try and beat that the next time, untill you know you are getting the maximum.

Normally the first harvest is always less than you hoped for. :-)

I know this all to well. I had a monster plant under a 250 my first time and it only yielded 4 oz dried. I thought this thing looked like it would yield a pound. well, I was wrong. Either way, I was happy with the quality. That was back in the good old overgrow days though. nowadays I am on this here RIU - god please don't go down. Anyways, I am happy for your input. I wonder though, the difference between 5 gallon and your average 2 gallon pots, not to mention air pruning smart pots. we will see. Still giving those puppies root excelurator. exciting stuff! photo update in a week!
