Hi All

I am already planning my next years out doorgrow. I have a space of 25' long by 6' wide and I plan on digging out the hard clay dirt down to about 2' so that about 300 sq. ft. of new soil I will need to bring in. I plan on planting 8 plants with 3' in-between each (3x8=24').

I need a good soil that wont break the bank, I heard SUPER SOIL the stuff sold at Wal-mart and Home depot is good but which one do I get there are so many. One is just soil and the other feeds for 6 months Also I heard I need to mix in Vericulite and Pearlite as well how much of that stuff to 300 sq ft of soil???? I gues what I am asking for is a good soil recipe for 300 sq ft of soil. and every time I do a search on a word from the fourms I get no results and I have to wait 20 sec inbetween.

By the way I am on the west coast

Thanks

I'd say use fox farms ocean forest, black gold, or roots soils.

I buy ocean forest by the pallet, $500 or so. Depending on where you live or where your grow is, maybe it is not possible to pull up with a bed full of soil. I transport via an enclosed trailer or just have the nursery deliver it.
I'm in NorCal, most nurseries have their own "house mix" available(sometimes several diff ones to choose from). Not sure if that is an option in your area, but you would most likely need to have the nursery deliver it.

I have a combination of trenches, single holes, and 100gal pots. When I originally filled my holes and pots, I used the ocean forest and my organic soil recipe. For the trenches, I used the basic house mix and had them add in my organic soil recipe and then I backfilled the trenches.

At the end of each season, I rip out the stalks and pour one bag of happy frog soil conditioner and add my soil recipe, till it around, let it set over the winter. Come spring, till it around and water. Add plants and sit back and relax.
I don't know proportions, but I do dump about a 2gals or so of perlite in each hole/pot.

here's a sample of my outdoor hole/pots recipe
hi nitro guano
perlite
green sand
collidial phosphate
bonemeal
that is my old norcal recipe.
this year i added worm castings and kelp meal. i don't notice any difference in my plants compared to the last 4yrs(without worm casting/kelp meal).
i'm still a month and a half or more from finishing so when the #'s are in, i'll let u know if there was a significant gain/decrease in yield.

Ya could have a guy bring a load of pulverized black dirt. Some one in your area delivers dirt. Then amend it with perlite or vermiculite.
