can i just use perlite , coco peat and castings split 3 ways as a mix ? Or must I have compost ? Cors i feel as tho the castings could be the compost

the castings are compost bud, you are correct. this is the base mix, will need to amend!

Castings are a form of compost and some people will tell you castings should never be more than 15% of your mix because they have such a high water holding capacity that they can cause too much compaction in a potting mix if the ratio is too high. However I think only homemade castings should be treated that way. Commercial screened worm castings aren't much different than commercial compost; regardless of the type.

Cors I will do mostly perlite like instead of 1:1:1 i would double on perlite and half the castings as I'd rather water more and nute a bit more then run the risk of overwatering as I have this habit of doing that lol as I like to tinker lokl
