So far I have been using FF Ocean Forest and Love it so far. I am starting to like the Sunshine Mix only because of dolomite lime mixed in there for cal mg supplement. How do you guys find an nusery that carries dolomite lime around? I don't like Mail orders ya feel me. I am in so cal. Have a great one.

Peace a Love,:joint:

feed and seed stores sell cal/mag mixtures, might not be a specific name brand but if it says pulverized limestone, or limestone dust, or agricultural lime, they all serve the same purpose.

edit: what the hell are unicorn farts?

When i use FF ocean forest I usually have to cut it with FF light warrior and some perlite or else it burns my plants.

Some strains can handle it, but I know my white widow beans absolutely hated ocean forest and had to be transplanted. They took forever to recover.

You can find a whole lot of stuff at OSH, including dolomite lime, B1, neem, SuperThrive, etc..

I use MG seed starting mix (5-1-5) mixed 3:1 with perlite.

I love the Pro Mix as it has no Nutes at all and stays pretty neutral with the lime added. I like it because its good from seed or clone to bloom and lets me KNOW what nutes they are getting cuz I am mixing them myself.

really though. check out promix hp. It drains fast, although i cut it with a little more perlite and hydroton. Just need to pre-wet before use.

Yah definitely because its high in peat but I love it and its great for beginners because it starts you off clean and you can flush if you over do it with the nutes.

nice to see someone who uses it as well. Alot of promix haters on this site. That is why I like it as well. stays neutral, you know exactly what they are getting, along with accurate runoff ppm readings.

Gypsum is a silicate calcium mineral. Its very heavy and used to help break up clay pan soil by slowly sinking into the clay and breaking it up.

Most hardware stores have large gardening departments with lime and a large array of the like. Right about now, in the northern US, they are starting to get in their spring inventory.

I use my own mix of:
50% organic compost
25% worm castings
15% coarse sand
10% perlite

I add my own nutes as i water the plants.

Thanks guys for some extra valuable information. I love getting small information and then go straight and do my research. I want to keep it natural as possible. I am still new to this. This would be my 2nd grow. I already have 2 growing at the moment.

Pro Mix??? hmmm. I will check it out. I don't care about haters just whats better and I will figure out I am smart enough to do my research first hehe. lol. but the problem is that the promix lacks dolomite lime. I want to keep this simple as possible ya know.

Dude, everyone knows you have to catch a unicorn to ubtain the perfect ph range of their farts. And it increases yield by 400% if a woodland ferry pisses on it!

I used FFOF too for the first 8 months or so of my growing experience. After FF opened a new plant on the east coast to manufacture the ocean forest, they started using ingredients (read: pine bark) that altered the smell, feel, and water retention capabilities of the soil. So I switched to BioBizz Light Mix, which is peat moss, sphagnum peat and perlite. I mix that in a 3:1 ratio with Fox Farm Light Warrior and add a few tablespoons of 9-3-2 bat guano and a healthy amount of 1-0-0 worm castings. I also add a little perlite, as the BB Light Mix seems to be a little deficient in this area.

My plants love it...way less "hot" than ocean forest and like someone else said, I get to control all the nutrients going in and out of the pot, making it very easy to identify and address problems.

To the OP, you should have added more categories for your poll...

Yeah, I realized that I should have added more categories for the soil choice. I am still new with soil choice. I have noticed that I had to add more N to brighten the leaves since the stems were turning purple and leaves darkening. Bio Bizz w/ light warrior? I will look into Bio Bizz and let you guys know what I have decided to go with. Thank you all . Here is some Blue dream, saluting you guys and to start my morning! :joint:

Where can I find me a Leprechaun? I need my lucky Irish!!!!!!
