Ok so just looking at making my first soil recipe and im wanting to get this one right, so here goes

Im planning on keeping this very simple and using more ammendments as i go along, also i only have what is avaliable in uk and try to keep organic:

For Veg:
2 parts coir
2 parts topsoil
1 part perlite
1 part worm castings
kelp meal
rock dust
Fish, blood and bone

For Flower:
2 parts coir
2 parts topsoil
1 part perlite
1 part worm castings
rock dust
Bat guano

Ok, so if anyone has any suggestions, that would be much appreciated, this is my first shot with the home made soil and tea.

Haven't worked out for teas yet what the feeding regime will be, but probably maxicrop seaweed in veg and some bat guano in flower, again any suggestions are welcomed.

You can never go wrong with molasses in your teas. It feeds the microbes in your soil and is also a good source of Potassium, Calcium, and Magnesium, even during veg :)

Thanks Havek yeah was defiantly going to go with some organic blackstrap saw excellent results with it before. Wanted to keep it simple maybe just worm castings and molasses

I would definitely recommend some kind of bacto/myco if you havent already. Even if you just write plantsuccess and get a free sample of great white to use it will be enough for a few pots

Ive still got some plant magic granules left over from an old grow but ill try the great white out yeah thanks, should be enough to get them started and i guess when kept fed with the teas should keep em going

One thing which im quite unsure of is how much organic fertiliser and which to add to the mix. Ive already got the high P bat guano so will be using that in the flowering soil mix but just unsure as to concentrations (dont want to make too hot) also which organic fert to add to veg soil. Ive heard fbb is not good as its derived from animal products. What else could i use instead of fish blood bone?

depends if you plan on using teas and organic liquids then i wouldn't worry too much.Haha just though of another place that will send you an organic fish based fert that will take about 3-4 plants through harvest and they don't charge shipping- neptunes harvest- check them out.I have a bottle and can't say i've used it yet but the stuff looks and smells exactly like my bottle of general organics bio marine so im guessing its pretty much the same.
Back to your question so if your using liquids as long as they are organic check out the place or if you wanna spend money you can find the general organic starter box for like 32 dollars if you are intending on trying to just get a good super soil and just add water, well check out vic highs recipe for organic soil and you will find a ton of tried and tested variations from all different substitutes.

Yeah just planning on doing teas but keeping it basic with worm casts, guano and molasses. hopefully this will work out ok. If i run into problems then may end up using an organic nute line but just wanted to try the tea out on its own i hope this provides everything the plants need

i think its peruvian or sun something or other that have a whole line of guanos for different times during your life cycle i think they have four in all.One for veg and bloom i think maybe a high pk one for a booster and the other is probably an all purpose im guessing.Don't know but seems it would be easiest to find a place that has something like that in the organic department.
Luckily there is so many soil farmers on here who pride themselves on just having to use tap water up untill the first few weeks of flower and even then they only use molasses for a booster.I ran molasses last flower cycle and even though i didn't run a side by side to tell if there was noticable difference i can say i wasn't dissapointed with the results.

Ok this is probably one of those things that im overthinking. Basically ive bought the high P bat guano, worm casts, rockdust, and kelp meal but i dont really have a source of Nitrogen in the mix. Was thinking either blood, fish and bone or chicken pellets. One thing im really not sure on is quantaties of each ammendment i should be adding to the soil. I really dont want to put too much and end up burning them.

Ok so heres what i did. In 60l (15gal) of soil mix (coco, ewc, topsoil and perlite) I added: 20 Tbsp bat guano (2-15-1) 12 Tbsp Blood, Fish and Bone (5-5-6) and 10 tbsp Lime.

I mixed this into the soil mix wet and added a sprinkle of plant magic granules (as an innoculant) I will later water with ewc and molasses tea to feed the soil.

Is this too many nutes in the soil mix? I will only be using teas. I hate overferting and if needed ill water this mix down with more coco.

All input appreciated. Total noob to this soil mixing game.

Thanks
