Soil Recipe for clones

You're doing it wrong then. I've saved SO MUCH FUCKING money by building my own soils. And that's even with ordering a lot of stuff online from places like bas.
Stop buying tiny amounts and or stop getting ripped off.
Those store bought soils are mostly peat or coir, that's why they're cheap. Take a bag of ffof or ffhp, wet it down and then compare it to an equal volume of high quality hand built soil that's also been wet down. The Fox farm soil will be exponential lighter than the "custom" soil.
Bagged soils are mostly shit and good for wasting your money. Even as a base you're better off buying bulk coir or peat and doing it yourself.

You seem salty about doing it yourself, did you have a bad experience?
lol.. yeah I'm doing it wrong

Why would you go through all the trouble of amending and growing true living just to go out and buy a ridiculously over priced bag of soil that you could literally make for a quarter of the price..?

I'd much rather just use some peat/ewc/pumice...
They'd do just fine. The other ingredients are for some serious growth , most definitely not needed, but my clones love it.

As far as time allotted for the soil to break down.. That is subjective by all means. By the time I harvest my next bin of recycled soil is ready to go.

When I take clones out. they go straight into a 1 liter pot. Which isn't much soil at all.. I make about 50 gallons of "clone/seedling soil." Which will last me almost a year. I'm pretty sure the crab meal will have time to break down. Just be patient, I mean, it is a staple in organics.
Both of these posts prove you're an idiot...Not even going to mention the others

Please don't expect a response from me either..

Good luck on your choice Forte

im lost on who was talking to you in the first place.. i know i wasn't.. nor do i care about your reply

I can't say I agree at all. I mean for people really running with a soil program are buying tiny little bags of this or that. We get large amounts 50lb bags and just have a constant supply on hand. At least I do. Only makes since. And compared to buying hundreds and hundreds of solars in bottles nutrients. Organic farmers have to invest in amendments. However. I always have plenty of store bought soil laying around to. Light warrior. Ocean Forres. Roots. Even some basement mix. Sometimes quick an easy is better.
who is talking about big scale growers .. do any of you people read posts? I'm talking about smaller growers in general ... lol i love how people either don't read or don't understand things.
if your some small guy growing 12 plants and only turn 12 plants a month your not buying 50b bags of amendments your buying smaller bags.. none of you know any small scale growers that have 8+ different amendments that total a 1/2 a ton of soil amendments laying around. they have small 5-10 lb bags of each amendment. NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT MAKING A LARGE SCALE SOIL .. this new guy is asking about a fucking recipe for his clones.. I'm pretty damn sure he's not pumping out 36- 15 gallon grows every month, wondering how he can save a bit of money!! LOL you guys are a trip sometimes.

I'm probably one of the smallest growers in this conversation. And I have a stupid amount of amendments laying around, IN MY 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT; 50lb bag of vermicompost, 40lb bag of mushroom compost, 2 40lb bags of compost, 10lb box of kelp, 5lbs of alfalfa, about half a cubic foot of azomite, glacial rock dust, etc, etc, etc, etc. My first grow that used my soil that I mixed up paid for every penny of my overhead for every single gram of what went into my soil mix.

You keep saying no one knows what they're talking about, but that's obviously not true. We just know better.

he sells soil mixes, so he'll be partial about it..
Phil and I have had our VAST differences, we grow very differently, and some of our philosophies are just different from each other.
BUT that being said i'll say he's been a lil less argumentative recently..
and again, That being said, I do agree with him (surprise!).. for clones I prefer a soil that has already had a run through it, or a simple bagged soil.

I agree with this, but only on the premise that you don't have any old soil leftover.. which we all should.
I don't make a mix strictly for my clones.
BUT i'm not sure that's what Midwest weediest was recommending... I think he was just disagreeing with the statement of it being "crazy expensive"
For me?
I had everything I needed with around 100 bucks or so, and that was like seven runs ago...
So it's waaaay cheaper for me...
Yup, you're right. I'd much rather use old soil, as I always have some lying around. But really though if you have as many house plants as me /tend to as many gardens as I do, it's a stupid move not having old soil around. I just can't justify the use of a bagged soil. I ditched the bottles so why would I buy the same thing just in the form of soil? It's just watered down (with coco / peat) from what you could build yourself for a tenth of the cost. I guess if you only grow a handful of plants a year, maybe it could be more cost effective buying bagged soil, but it's a bit of a rabbit hole when you start talking about recycling soil, long term costs, etc.
I guess I just really don't understand what the problem is with having old soil or amendments laying around. I live in a tiny apartment and I don't bitch about having soil / amendments in my place. Put it in a couple rubbermaids or something..

course that girl is waaay history... got my own place and hell, I can even leave the toilet seat up if I want..
Yup life of a bachelor... shit last weekend?, i was having some ladies over, and I threw away some dishes rather than washing them... I mean after all.. fuck that.
Besides they were all gross... I don't mind wrenching on cars and getting dirty... but the slob that allowed those dishes to turn a color unnatural to them?
Shit... slobby bastard...
It's ok, I hide it well, the ladies have NO idea.... muahaha

mr Phil k. I don't get it. I see you getting upset that people are not fully reading your posts. But I never mentioned anything about large scale growing. I said. Serious soil program. Hmm. Same difference though.

Exactly! Once your into soil amendments are not shit. And mixing soil and playing with dirt is a joy for me. Never work a day.

Hahaha yeahhh, it's a bit much. For the most part you'd never know I grow though. Rubbermaid containers for all of my stuff not in use, an enclosed area I use for seedlings / clones and the first few weeks of veg, and a tent in the bedroom. My girl is probably one of the coolest in that she doesn't care much about the inconvenience of growing, that and she smokes almost as much as me, definitely as often. So that's a huge factor in it. She does bitch when I keep the air conditioner below 60, when I randomly want to look at my plants in the middle of the night (600 watts to the face in pure darkness hahaha oops), and when I have plant stuff just strewn about the house. But she's pretty cool with it all. She even listens when I ramble on about "plant stuff" for hours on end, relatively.
I just make sure that I grow her the best stuff possible and have strains she likes.

I remember the single life, I found it rather boring honestly. It is nice to be able to scratch my balls openly on the couch without disapproving looks though. And if I threw away her dishes.... Oh man ..

im lost at what you don't get you MORON this post was about a guy asking how to get a clone soil mix.. not about any of us who have mass amounts of amendments. this is the shit i don't get here everyones bashing people and your not getting the fucking point. this post was about a guy asking how to make a soil program for clones. the point of the whole fucking thing was to tell him for the amount he is making and needing its much simpler to run a remade system for "clone soil" if he really wanted to go that way. THE POST ISNT ABOUT who is a large scale amendment grower and how much cheaper it is to run large scale versus buy large scale amounts of pre made... LOL

don't sweat it man, I think it was a misunderstanding, plus the thread was dead for a week, it's dead.
No need to bring it back and start another argument.

The conversation obviously went in another direction, thus why I was talking about it. I had already responded to his original question and elaborated as the conversation progressed.

Why do you care though? This thread has been dead for a while

Wow that phil has a mouth on him for an industry business owner. I'd never recommend anyone buy his secret-recipe retail bullshit soil. I asked him what was in it and the guy ran away. Now I read his above comments and figure his business is doomed, or at least his word-of-mouth referral business is.

actually no i would say add crab meal theres other benefits to crab meal it works as a bug deterrent. and supplies a good amount of micro life also ... it does eventually break down.. you can get many different grades some much finer down to powders that can be utilized much faster than say neptunes harvest. ... and yes i recommend the alfalfa meal...
honestly look if you want a seedling mix and don't want to buy a premade system do this go get promix HP don't get anything less its a super porus system you can add amendments to and still have good purosity.. get a worm casting instead of a compost much cleaner and less chance of bugs and shitty stuff... then get some guano..and if you wanna get crazy get some green sand (use very lightly) and something like kelp or alfalfa meal. to a extent thats basically light warrior.. they run the base mix a bit different but thats pretty much it..
So is this your exact list of amendments sailor?

yeah granted your having all the excess for more.. i feel that but i think that the basic crap like light warrior (most exsensive option) you pay like 25$ or something for the bag so thats maybe 5 runs worth to your 7 runs with excess.. i feel like if you know what your really doing and pumping out a good amount of stuff monthly then id lean twords making it myself but for the smaller growers.. and even newer guys getting into that crap can break you and make everything much worse than better if you screw up something. getting the soil pre made with no worries or troubles and getting grows under your belt over and over in my mind is more important for people than just jumping in and making crap themselves. ya know what i mean... heck i am all for DIY and stuff and i truly think nutrient or even a lot of the soil companies are eating peoples money like candy .. but there is reasoning behind it.

now if you wanna talk about companies that screw growers over ... RAW (the amendment guys) are killing it.. they sell like a cup of their amendment products for 15-20$+ its nuts.. same with companies like house of gardens and stuff they are killing it .
i agree SOME of the products are overpriced... but like others mentioned above, if plan on being a grower for a while and want to build your own mixes, be smart and price out what you're paying for. i've built SO MUCH soil with the stuff i've payed for so far, and i still have leftovers for amended mixes to be made. one bag of light warrior wouldn't be enough for 5 runs in my room. barely enough for one plant by the time it hits flower. or maybe i'm just not understanding what you're trying to say....

i will say i agree getting grows under the belt is very important when starting out, but if people would do some damn research before (no one in particular, i'm just generalizing), lots of people wouldn't have problems with their first runs. but it is a learning experience even when you think you know what you're doing :)
