I am planning on this mix....

50% Fox Farm Ocean Forest
25% Perclite
25% Vermiculite

I am planning on starting in this mix right after germination. I know the Ocean Forest has nutes already. I am planning to use Fox Farms Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom as well as Superthrive. When approx will I need to start adding Nutes? I will be growing under 1000 MH for Veg and 1000 HPS for flower.....

How's it goin? Usually plants started from seed can feed themselves for up to 2weeks or so of their life, once you see the cotyledons start to yellow and die out is when they are gonna start needing food. And what lights do you have for the seedlings? are you putting them under the 1000mh or do you have some softer light like CFLs or so?

I dont have any cfl's or fluorescents at all actually. I was going to start them under the MH but a good distance away for the first couple of weeks....

that is very wasteful. The plants to fill the space under 1 1k light could it into one tray of seedlings unde 2 2ft fluros. Also, they will be in many differen sized containers throughout their life, varying in size, thus meaning many more can be in the same area younger. Personally i wouldnt waste my time with anything special before flowering. I mean, use only fox farm ocean forest for early veg. Then when flowering, I use coco, a more fortified soil like planting mix or a bio flora compost, and more fox farm ocean forest along with various fertilizers. Using growbig at about 1/4 solution when te first true leaves develop is the way to go. I use their big bloom organic the whole growth cycle as well. Of course begin tiger bloom when flowering begins, and visual signs of calyx formation start.

I hear what you are saying for sure. This is the thing. It will be my first grow...and I have already completely blown my budget for it! I have been thinking about adding some side fluorescents to my setup or separating and having an area for veging...but I just decided to see how this goes. If it goes well I will add more for the next grow.....does that make sense? Will the MH be too much for the seedlings? I think if they start with it they should be fine....but what do i know?

I Would Definatley Go Down To The Store And Get A Shop Light For 10 Bucks (local Home Depot) This Will Save You The Extra Money A 1000mh Will Cost To Run In Those First Few Weeks. If You Cant Spend Another Penny Or Set In Your Ways Then Make Sure The Light Is Well Away From Them In The Start. Good Luck

The investment already is too much to risk not doing it right and killing em before they really get started. I will be getting a shop light for sure. Thanks for everyones input. I shoud use both WW and CW bulbs right?

Yeah the 1000 watt mh as to intense of an out put. You can get nice digital 1000watt switchable stups now for around $250.Use the florescent 4 foot tube lights as they work great and are cheap.I use them to start clones and to do some vegging.Ill post a few pics of a 4 tube commercial t8 fixture I converted toa standard plu in unit total cost was $40 with bulbs and cord.Fox Farm is a 3 bottle mix you need all 3 bottle Grow Big, tiger bloom and big bloom. The grow big is what you will start them on and will use it again later in smaller amounts.Make sure you get the correct hydro or soil bottle as they are different mixes.Hers some clones that are now about 3 weeks old under 24 hour florescent lights in soil.Left on 24 hours aday in miracle grow moisture control no feeding til flower will happen just ph 6 water is all they get. They should have been in 3 gallon pots a week ago but I been busy so they will go into the bigger pots and I will give 2 more weeks veg. Soil is real slow to grow and Im an aero guy but this was for old times sake lol.

yeah and just use that 3 rd week to ease them into the light. Start a little high then lower a couple inches during the week to the lowest possible safe distance and your golden.

well, i understand what everyone is saying, but i started seedlings under my 800w super spectrum and found it to be faster and so far so good, but really keep temp down. and come on guys whats the fun if u dont experiment :)

because u will use a lot less of electricity and could get the same affect during veg. stage that is just what i think

I ve never seen an 800 watt setup who makes it?? Also the reason you dont do it as the intense output stress the plant increasing the chances of hermies or male from that much light so soon. And yes it is a butt waste of electricity and money

I have 6 clones already rooted i get them in a few days..... What is the best types of nutrients for my water? with soilless mixter??
