I decided the book was too expensive to buy. But i have wanted to read it.

Can you spell out the short version of what the beds are? I am interested.....

The beds are large self - built beds. He plants many clones into them. At the bottom of the beds are a layer of chicken wire, black cloth, and some type of airation stones. PVC pipes are in the corners of the bed to provide oxygen down to the stones and in turn to the roots. This is from memory so if I forgot anything speak up. The point of the beds are that the plants can share space and have more root room. I have personally not used them but when I have used beds in general I liked the results a lot.

i have the book. his beds are not that big and plus he puts them on rollers so they are easy to move. if you think about it, if you have the room why wouldn't you do it? its easy to keep a 400-600w over each bed, the roots don't get all cramped like in pots so they grow bigger and better.

i recommend soma's book. its not a bible or anything and its definately not expensive, but its cool if you like nyc diesel like i am growing now

Sounds really interesting. Is the book just about Soma's technique for growing organic, or does it also have stuff about how he makes strains and other background about him? That's what I'd be interested in reading about.

So i found a torrent PDF file of the book. And i agree. IT IS VERY GOOD!

After reading the part about the beds it really makes me want to try it. Too bad it wouldn't work in my room.

I don't grow much soil anymore but when I do I use his method with some small modifications.

First I start off with a good quality organic soil. I mix in a very large amount of pearlite. Almost 50/50.

I put a layer of hydroton on the bottom of the pot about 3" thick. I use stainless steel window screen to cover the hydroton pellets.

Then I run 3/4" PVC pipes in the corners of the pot from the top to the bottom.

Pour the soil in and your done. I also use Botanicare organic nutrients.

The buds grow faster than with just regular soil methods. You have to water the plants twice as often also because the water runs right through. It's almost a hybrid hydro type of concept.

But....my aeroponic system grows 3X as much bud in the same time and tastes as good if not better than my soil plants. Go figure...
