Some tips on stealth box ideals

So i got my stealth box size decided at 20w x 30h x 22d. This gives me 3 square feet to work with which equals a 150 watt hps (Or 100 watt with CFLs???). Now everything from the box, to the lights, to the vents, and to the carbon filter will have to be custom because of budget restriction. My question is can i get away with mounting my light to the top of my box with out losing too much power (because of distance)? This would mean the light would be fixed at 30 inches above ground level the entire grow. In my diagrams if i mount the bulb assembly to the roof (making it nonadjustable) my heat situation will be completely gone as i can individually vent the bulb and ballast together easily with one fan. If i choose to make the light adjustable im worried that i will not be able to keep my box at or below fair temps (assuming 84 max is fair). Would just moving the plants closer to the light by stacking items up under them be logical? At this point nothing is in stone so all comments are welcome. The size is the max i can do in my situation so only smaller is an option. Btw can someone tell me how loud inline fans are? I had a dual pc fan vent idea for exhaust but if those fan can be damn near silent ill pick one up.

IMO 30" is kinda on the low side, you got to remember about your pots they'll be around 6-10" tall, plus your light, filter, fan it all takes a bit of space. I think you'll have to look into some lst I think that's your best bat, and stick with indica dominant strains and you should be fine, also you got to remember they'll stretch a bit in flowering.

Stacking books and xbox games worked for me.

I initially used velcro to make the light adjustable but it wasn't strong enough to stand all the hardware plugged in.


LST will most likely be your best friend. I'm new to growing . But i couldn't imagine not LSTing or any other training methods.

Thanks alot for the reply! and yes i plan to scrog and lst like hell on this go around. I know the plants pots will probably raise the plants up 6'' and i plan to let them get to about a foot before flipping my switch to flower. What do u think about the lights? Is a 150 too much for my grow area?

Beats me i dont have the know how on that; im on my first grow .. first grow of anything actually lol .

But from what people tell me the more light the better.

Heat may be an issue but i think you had that covered

If you go HSP make sure you have some kick ass air flow my cab got over 100' in like 10 mins, had to mod the cab mid grow not cool.
