Something on roots?

Doing my daily checks, and noticed a couple plants with stuff on their roots/not white roots.

pH: 5.8
PPM: 1000
R/O
Cal/Mag
Pro-TeKt
Maxibloom
Compost Tea (5ml/Gal MycoGrow, Soluble (added after brewing); 6ml/Gal Organicare, Seaplex; 38g/Gal Progress Earth Organics, Earth Compound; 4ml/Gal Progress Earth Organics, Earth Tonic; 12/ml/Gal Grandma's Molasses (unsulphured).

Air temp: 76°F
Res temp: 71°F
Light cycle: 24/0

All plants were transferred from dirt to aero about 10 days ago, they all look to be doing fine aside from a few yellowing leaves (presumably stored nutrients being used up to regrow roots). I've been top feeding every few days, so there's a chance this is just a little extra dirt I didn't remove coming down, or maybe some of the tea inoculant which made it into a reservoir, but...

During transplant everything was watered with B-1, then most of the dirt removed, B-1 soak, last of the dirt removed, another soak. The reservoir was filled with a B-1 solution at the time, and they were hit with a few foliar feedings of B-1 (was just thinking about hitting them with another when I went into check on things).

This brown stuff is on the surface of the roots, and can be wiped away easily. It does not feel slimy, though it's not particularly gritty, as might be expected of dirt. The effected plants all seem to be doing as well as ever, but here we are. Any ideas or suggestions would be great, as this doesn't really look like root rot or brown slime to me. Might it be a result of the tea, and just looks a little odd because it's in aero rather than hydro? Hrm...

EDIT: There might be a bit of a nitrogen def, but I'm on top of it now... >.>

Your starting to get the beginnings of root rot at least with my limited and aged experience, and it could just be the tea stain.... You can try some H202/Peroxide, but I would say give this a try http://www.hydrorush.com/ as everything I have heard thru the grapevine says it works great bringing up the O2 intake of the root zone and cleaning up the res leaving bright white roots.

3-5ml per gallon..... Sign up a for free pint and ship it to moms or check with your local grow shop for a sample!

And try not to wipe you root zone, your killing the micro roots they need for intake; try a weak direct spray to rinse them clean!

And really other then that brown crap they look good; I was gonna say add more bubbles, but from the background of the 1st pic it looks like plenty of bubbles!

Those products will kill all the beneficials...

I wasn't really wiping them, I wanted to feel it to see if it was slimy, as that would be conclusive. It looks like the spray head at that end got stuck and was just spraying directly into the head next to it... I have no idea how I did not notice this when I was taking pictures, probably tunnel visioned on the spot. If the head went out, and as such the contents of the cup dried out, it's very likely dirt would have been more free to fall through while top feeding... or that the roots were a little damaged by the dryness, and something that was actually bad showed up.

Perhaps I'll spray down the roots on the effected plants with h2o2, rinse, and dunk in beneficials? Can't hurt, really.

EDIT: The bubbles are coming from two 4ft bendable airlines which are snaked across the bottom, you only really see the bubbling over them, but the surface agitation and whatnot of the spray heads helps too.

Lately I've been sort of wishing I went flood/drain for simple ease of use; oh well, I have the time, I just need to use it responsibly (said with a beer in hand). >.>
