Alrighty how is everyone tonight. The last time I posted I mentioned that I lost 4 seeds due to bad ventilation, causing heat build up and eventually root rot. Well I have sense then moved and rebuilt, and started over again. So I now have 3 more seeds popped and growing strong. Temps are no longer an issues, and everything was super sterilized and clean. All three popped the very next day after I put them in the the rock wool starter cubes. Seriously it was only 1 day germination, and now on day three they are all about 2" tall. My digital camera is out of juice and I need to buy more batteries. So unfortunately we have to wait for pictures. Please subscribe to this thread if you are interested, and follow me on this new journey.

When I get picture up I will describe for you all my setup right to a T. I will also add a tutorial on how I built this new ebb&flow system that I think is very very nice. So make sure you post back and keep track of the progress, as I am sure t will be a fun trip.

As mentioned I am updating my journal to include the system design. This is for anyone that may want to know information regarding the design and build. I have taken a lot of pictures for me to detail, and explain what is going on. Alright so lets get started shall we...

Intially this cabinet was custom build for my my last apartment. I had a small walk-in closet that from my point of view had a lot of potential. I measured the closet so I knew what I was working with. So I quickly went to work out in the garage drawing up a few designs and taking notes of what was going through my head. After figuring out what I wanted to do I started shelling out the funds that I didn't have LOL. After a few online purchases and a few trips to the hardware store I had all the supplies I needed.

The Cab has a total measurement of 30"Wx24"Dx60"H so we are looking at 25 cubic feet. You can see that the design is pretty straight forward from the pictures, and shouldn't have any issues as I explain... How bout the phrase on that pretzel box LMAO

You can see the 4" Vortex fan, loud as hell IMO. Actually the fan is not loud but the air whoosh is very loud. I added the fan controller thinking I would need it but when I adjust the fan I get a buzz/humm louder than the whoosh, how is that for irony LOL. I am using the Hydro Hut elf Carbon filter, it is about the same cost as a homemade one and works as good as any canfilter at a mere 50.00 dollars you cannot go wrong. I have refilled it for the second time just a week ago, and it will be good for two harvests. I used a standard 4" 45 degree plumbing elbow, attached to a 4" toilet flange. It worked out great and is very very secure.

You can see all the different crap I use, no telling how much is a waste of cash but the peace of mind is seriously priceless. I plan get a nice size bottle of Hygrozyme, or Cannazyme here real soon. I am not sure which is better so I will read up on that. You can see the light, water filter, water pump, 400w ballast, computer PSU powering the pump, also the Cap ART timer. Naterally I am using a GFCI in the reciprocal box, and that whole box is wired to 12/2 heavy duty wire. Then the cab is plugged into a heavy duty power strip.

The light system is pretty straight forward... 400W CMH hardwired to a 400w ballast kit. I prefer that to spending an extra 100.00 on a whole light system. The kit, bulb, and reflector cost me just over 100.00 plus shipping so it was a steal.
Now I will move on to the irrigation of the cabinet. Once again it is pretty straight forward and simple as that is the best way to go IMO. The irrigation starts here at the res...

Then of course it goes up to the 200mesh filter, and then to the pump... like I said simple a straight forward. The pump is a Shurflo Smart Senor 5.7. It pumps 5.7gpm at 60 psi, for 150.00 bucks it is seriously one of my favorite investments of this whole system. The pump is powered by a PC PSU, all I did was connect it to the 12v leads on the PSU, and used wire nuts and tape to keep it secure (I added a picture below #7). The pump is very well built and can last ten years easy with what I am using it for. I have used 60.00 pumps that die out after a couple years so in time it will pay for itself, or maybe that is just wishful thinking LOL. The water from the pump just flows right into the flood container, and that is about it. The container floods for about 60 seconds and then waits 4 hours between floods. A Cap ART timer is the only way to get a flood cycle like this, at least to my knowledge that is. One can be had for about 90.00 anywhere on the net, and looks like this...

Enough for now guys more to come stay tuned.

Alright a slight update, I lost one due drying out. I forgot to set the timer back to the propper time after maintenance. I was lucky it was only one. I have a friend growing out three of them as well, so if this is a male or female I am keeping it. It is looking very good so far but has a very slight sickness. I was suspecting PH but PH looks good as far as my probe says (5.5-5.9). It could be a slight nute burn cause I did add some nutes when I seen the first set of real leaves establish. I have some pretty good pics for the forum to see and add their feedback on what might be wrong.
