Sour Kush herm issues :(

So I picked up a 5 pack of some Reserva Privada Sour Kush, and was so excited to finally get a chance to grow some of this "headband" stuff out. Well, 4/5 turned herm on me in week 3 of flower--the only herms in the bunch :( .... On a good note, 5/5 Emdog from HSO are fine so far...

Hso keeps impressing me, for a cheaply priced new company I for one am not mad at em. Try the desert diesel if you get a chance.

As for the headband sorry to hear that.

Yep, they got the axe as soon as I noticed the ball sacks.
Mistake bro. A lot of the time, strains that herm on a seed run outgrow it by the second or third clone generation. I've been around a long time and have thrown out a lot of shit because of some nanners around 3-4 weeks. A few years ago I had a tahoe x sour d x chem d that was a KILLER, but it grew balls around 3-4 weeks. I kept it anyway because it turned out to be such good smoke. After the second or third clone gen it completely stopped herming. Since then, any herm plant I get that's extremely good smoke, I keep it for a bit and see if it outgrows the herming. 90% of the time it does. And I've gotten plants that herm before with not a single grain of pollen to be found. Keep that in mind next time you get a herm instead of freaking out and chopping. It could have had sterile pollen, no pollen, or could have outgrown it.

Opposite for me. I've seen a few of their strains grown out by friends for fun and they were pretty bunk. The og and chemdawg were the worst and smoked like white widow.

sk just tastes like kush its fine weed but its just a kush
It's not a kush, doesnt taste like kush, or look like kush. Kush tastes like dirt and smells like dirt and comes from the Hindu Kush region. Some have a little hash spice in it but overall, dirt. Unless you're referring to the fuel/funk smell as kush, and if so, what's wrong with that?

herms ARE strain related.

+reppppppppppppppppppppp

Dna/rp are the same with all the few crossing and no stabilizing being done of course you will here's pop up. I've seen a lot of the new released fems herm as well as the old ones I even had some myself from them (kushberry and og18). So I'd say with dna/r.p. it's a hit or miss and try to grow in a stress free environment.

@Dunbar your right on the money man....Just got done with a run of 4 RP sour kush's. No hermis. Non of them taste like OG Kush either, more of a sour diesel or sour apple taste. I read about this strain hermi on people so i kept a close eye on it and kept all the low light lower branches trimmed up so they couldnt hermi.

Yup, and I just got done running 6 fem Holy Grails and 6 fem Skywalker. Holy grail = 4 with balls. The skywalker = 5 with balls. Lame!

They used the keeper pheno. of tangerine dream (a very unstable strain) to create new crosses?
That doesn't sound like something an experienced breeder would do...
I'm curious if anyone has grown any of the "tangie" crosses with good results!

i got 3 sour tangie 5 weeks into flowering so far so good. They make really nice plants. I can tell already that they will produce a lot. I have been scared of them going hermie because they are crossed with ECSD.

I don't know about the tangie, but for the most part, if you didn't find any "balls" on them by the end of week 3, you should be good. If you end up with "Nanners" late in flower, not as big of deal. Not that you would want nanners either though, if you are searching for a keeper.

No, they used an older US clone from the mid 90's with the same name, but the genetics I believe is Cali O crossed with some skunk. Came from a dude called Crockett.
