im planning on trees for the coming year, but as we all know the gulf coast doesn't have the best of climates. And ive never grown in a very humid place like that. Also it rains very heavily at times. what are some really good mold resistant strains? any pointers for growing under such conditions? or Is this a bad idea?

Weed can grow really well in a whole bunch of different climates, that's why they call it a weed!

But it is beneficial to replicate an "Ideal" climate as best as possible for higher yield.

I would recommend growing in a greenhouse so you can utilize the natural resources outside while also being able to regulate the climate your plants are in. Simply add fans and a dehumidifier and you will be good to go.

I am not too sure on strains resistant to mold, but the biggest factor would be monitoring humidity if you want to prevent that. Using a dehumidifier will help for that.

okay, seems like using a fungicide will be beneficial. I think I'm going to use neem oil but how far into flowering can I spray it onto buds? also how much is ideal? I had an indoor grow where i was spraying a very dilute solution (tsp to a qt) and it seemed to not be doing a whole lot as spider mites invaded my garden and it rly hurt my yields. I'm mostly worried about the dreaded botrytis.

I'm not able to supply any electricity to this grow so the dehumidifier idea is out.

I think I'm going to go with "heavy" sativas: Moby dick, crit.jack, crit.Kali mist, & super silver haze. if anyone has had bad luck with mold on these plants, please let me know.

what do you guys think of suspending a mesh screen over the plants just before heavy rains? Is this very helpful or a waste of time?

I'm getting ready for my first grow in NW FL. Nirvana Swiss Cheese seems to be mold resistant.

OP, with you living in Alabama, I assume you are growing in the woods. Trying to cover stuff, or build greenhouses would be risky. There is a breeder on here who has done wonders with mold resistant strains. He has a seed company now. Many of the RUI members run his gear.
