Speaker Grow Box (pics to come)

Hey everyone, I am just about finished my speaker grow box, all I need to do now is grab some lights.

I was curious as to suggestions for the lights I should purchase.

My grow box is 2 ft. tall, 1 ft. in depth and 1 & 1/2 ft. wide. The only fan being used is a 120mm Computer fan.

Also, I am trying to find the best way to cut down on light escaping from the fan opening. Does any one have a good suggestion?

From my POV, there's really only three options for lighting:

1) HPS/MH - efficient, but produces tremendous heat so you'll probably need another fan or two. Look into making a cool tube.

2) CFL - less efficiency, which means a smaller yield at the same wattage as an HPS/MH, but a lot less heat. This could mean more stealth, depending on your ambient room temps, etc.

3) LED - very efficient, very little heat, and very expensive. You'll have to invest in the most expensive LED's though, as the cheap ones are actually less efficient then CFL.

If choosing 1 or 2, check out what this what this guy did in his PC grow with a sheet of plexiglass.

I plan on using 3 CFL bulbs. Two of which, will go along the left and right side, vertically. These two bulbs are about 1ft long. The third CFL will be a standard bulb at the top of the box.

Also, the 120mm computer fan I am using has blue LED lights. Not very bright but you can see them for sure. Will this light from the fan cause problems down the road?

dude im a first time grower and i decided to try LST with a 16 inch speaker case in my closet with a T-shirt over the back of it. I got a seed from a bag of decent bud and decided to try to get a female. I pruned the leaves and stressed the plant a little and now its the third week of flowering. 10 budsites and each cola so far is 4-5 inches tall. Flowering will most likley double giving me at least a quarter.

Awesome, what lights are you using?

What are the other dimensions also?

I would think three plants max and you would have to flower when they got 8". CFL's have very little heat and plant can grow around bulb.

I still need to line the insides white... I'm thinking spray paint might be the most simplistic/cheapest method?

I plan to put some pictures up soon. Sorry for slacking, I have been busy light proofing.

3 plants seems like 1 too many to me. I have 2 plants growing in mine and they are taking up all the space right now...check out my grow for my dimensions if you wanted to know. Also you will want/need to LST your plants if you only have 2 ft of height.

And I'm using a 150w HPS for my grow.

an lst or scrog would be great for this, id definetly go with cfls for this, that fan light may cause a problem unless it goes off with your 6 hours of dark just may interupt your light schedule, id do maybe 1-2 plants max any more and youd have a pretty big cluster of green in that speaker!

With your PC grow, what lights are you using that plug directly into the surge protector? Where can I find them?

Edit: I know they are CFL's but the way they plug in is what I am interested in.

its like i light socket with a wall adapter on the back its not the light, you can find them at wallmart, home depot, lowes, home hardware, and some dollar stores.

I am thinking simply hang it so it can be raised & etc. It will probably throw the lights on an angle which might be a good thing.

My idea is to hang the surge protector upside down with the adapters you have. Put a splitter on each two allow 6 lights total (one less adapter then you have).

Get where I am going?

I did not have any luck finding these at home depot so i purchased 2 splitters.

I am currently running 1 40w CFL in addition to 1 26w CFL. Also, I have 2 15w CFL's and a 9w CFL running.

I would assume I have plenty of light for my speaker no?

Would 4 40w's work better?
