Spending too much $

Does anyone think i may be going overboard by spending $1200 on my outdoor grow this year? I mean, i have $350 on seed easily. And not to mention all the soil i had to purchase. +nutrience+ perlite+vermiculite+blood&bone meal. :o I guess I rlly don't have a money issue, but i see so many people on here who just put a seed in the soil somewhere in the woods and go check on it "ocasionaly". But I just want the best for my little ladies while they are growing.

If I am crazy for putting this much money up for an outdoor grow, please let me know?!

P.s. 50 plants. Seeds are all feminized.

As an Individualist its important to me to be Self Reliant. So I make my own seed. Regular and Fems.

This year I am running Hybrid Clones - White Widow crossed with Durban Poison. I will make some Fem Seeds of "White Poison" this season so that I have some for next season.

I will also be making regular seed out of my Kush seedline. I may cross a nice looking kush male to the White Poison just for fun.

I spent about $300 on nutes and supplies for this seasons grow. It will get me 50+ eight foot plants.

I wish i had the resources to breed some of my own strains and keep rebreading them to make a very stable strain for myslef, Xare. But i have way too much on my plate as it is. Farm life, soo much fun:wall:. But its a good life. No drug tests EVER :bigjoint:!! And the white poison sounds amazing.

Well i like doing things rite, and doing the best i can at them so i guess this is going to be the best money i spent in a while. No regrets, cause I think it's going to be a killer year. thanks fdd for easing my mind.

I haven't bought buds from someone in years. I have grown enough for myself for a while now. And you are rite, bigv, all the dealers where i live, only have shitty weed. Seedy, stemy, harsh-tasting. but it's cheap. One of my friends gets an ounce for like $80. But yuck. My stuff tastes good, and u don't need to smoke 5 bowls to get high.

I grow cheepo, but if i harvest big ill spend more.

100 $for seed. 100 $for soil, 50$ for random stuff like chicken wire, Zeba moisture absobing starch polymer.

Most of my stuff for my box was free, or i already had it.

Im breeding some Ak & NL x bag seed Mexi up so i wont have to buy next year.

no worries man spend as much as you can afford. ive spent that easily already and im not even a comercial grower its just a hobby. it all pays off. its better than spending it at the bar or on gas to drive in a box somewhere at least you get some quality time outside.

A guy I know refused to spend $100 on beneficial insects, last year.

The result was a wonderful meal for spider mites and no smokable bud.

This was indoors under four 1000w HPS lights.

The overhead is much lower outdoors, and the yield, unlimited.

My opinion is that Cannabis will reward you 100 times over for every dollar you spend nurturing it.

I spend about $500/year on my well established garden, including veggies and fruit trees.

I spent about $8,000 on a 6kW grow system indoors. You have it lucky. :) Never look at what it costs, but look at making sure you have the best tools and genetics for the best results and the cost will always be reasonable.

It's your money, spend it however you want. I don't blame you, especially if you are a seasoned grower who's been doing it for awhile and know what you are doing. With 50 plants, even if you only get an ounce per plant (which is a huge underestimate) that is still almost 3 pounds of bud. You can't even get 3 pounds of shitty bud for $1200.

Personally, I look at it as a hobby. To tell you the truth, I'm not even that big of a smoker anymore. I have about $200 in my grow this year for 9 plants (5 reg, 4 fem). I'm not expecting huge 8 foot tall plants that yield a pound each, it's just something fun to do. Why grow tomatoes when you can grow bud, haha, thats the way I see it.

As an Individualist its important to me to be Self Reliant. So I make my own seed. Regular and Fems.
How exactly do you make fem seeds? Is it something to do with letting hermies pollinate themselves?

You stress a female until it expresses a latent trait. The recessive gene for hermie male "banana" stamens. Hidden within the DNA of the plant is the code that makes these grow. You just have to coax it out, force it to show itself.

If you need to know exactly how search around for a step by step guide.

Feminized seed can be generated using Silver Thiosulfate.

I got the chemicals required too late, last year, but intend to do a simple tutorial some time this summer.

Once I know I can do this without a hitch, I'll be generating feminized seeds for all my clone only strains.
