I'm pretty sure I got a bad case of spider mites on one of my plants. I removed it from the grow room and stuck it outside. These things are everywhere!

Sooooo

Any of you guys ever used those sprays that contain pyrethrin to eliminate these things?

Those buggers can emerge from potting soil at anytime. I tried a couple different insecticides, and had fair success. But, Ortho Max for Vegetables, fruits, flowers, and shrubs is great. It contains Esfemvalerate; $4.96 at Lowes.

Also, some RIU people are big fans of Neem Oil. I have no idea where to buy the stuff, but it comes highly recommended. I suggest you always spray the bottom leaves an soil surface whenever you transplant. For an infestation you will need to mist the top leaves as well in a three day cycle.

I've already got them in their final containers. Are you talking about for future reference?

Right on man, I wasn't going to be able to make it to the hydro store today, so I was gonna check Lowes or Home Depot. I'll look for that stuff. Is it safe for the plants? Is it a natural thing or a chemical?

These guys are in the nodes, all over the stems, and under the leaves....I will need to spray the shit out of them. I'm almost tempted to just give up on it and leave it outside and let it run it's course. I don't want to take a risk of getting the other guys infested as well.

What are your thoughts on this?

Don't loose your head on this. Get the Ortho and mist the whole plant. In three days do it again. In three days evaluate the situation. In the meantime, spray the soil of your other plants and watch them closely.

Is it safe, you ask? It is for vegies and fruits, so follow label directions and you will be fine.

Almost all of the insecticide have Neem Oil as the active ingredient, I think Home Depot carries Pure Neem. Formula if you get Pure Neem is 1 tbslp Neem Oil, I tbspn liquid dish soap (unscented) to one gallon of warm water. If the Neem Doesn't Dissolve heat it a little it will. Spray all of your plants, paying special attention to the underside of the leaves, Spray till its dripping off like a good rain. Then as Mocking has said do it again in three days. Check them again. I had to do this with the cola in my avatar. Your pets could drink the water with Neem Oil in it. 8 oz of Neem is like $8.00 make 16 gallons of spray. What I did cause I couldn't find any Neem the day I discovered them, I bought a bottle of the stuff Mocking is talking about and then reused that bottle to spray with, its already marked insecticide, I figure you should always mark whats in the bottle.
