Spliting the Growroom?

I would like to split a growcloset into a veg cycle area and a flowering cycle area.

I would like to avoid burning my house down

I will be growing hydro which is supposed to grow faster plants so I was thinking of switching from HID to Flourecents for less heat and less likelyhood of fire (since the space will be fairly compact for 2 areas of closet hydro SOG)

Q1: Would CFL's with Hydro be roughly equivalent to HID + Soil as far as speed and efficiency of growth?

Q2: What materials do you use to "light-proof" the 12/12 area?

Q3: Would you recommend an 800w MH / HPS combo, confined into a 4' X 2' area for flowering (assume it's ventallated properly)?

Thank you guys. I'm looking forward to researching this setup and firing her up in January :blsmoke:

Q1 - That really deppends all i can say is that i have 3 plants growing in a bubbler under 2 x 18w tubes + 2 x 40w tubes and after 3 weeks they are 13" wide 6" inches tall the stems are as thick as a pencil and they´re bushier then george bush...in this amount of time it´s a fucking amazing growth for such a small amount of light...so u could try something like this for Veg and for the Flower something less dramatic then a 800watter..çet´s say 250hps and a couple of cfl´s just for spectrum

Q2 - U can use double side sheeting, plywood, cardboard (be creative u dont need to spend lots of $$$$ to do this a black plastic will do fine, i used to have a "wall" separating my older grow cab made of black blastic bin bags covered with mylar on both sides and it worked great...

Q3 - No, 4´tall minus the space the setup takes, minus the distance the plants need to be from the plants, minus the pot size (or the tub from the hydro system) leaves u with roughly 2´to grow in, if u add the temp control u need to have in that space....

Check this small setup i built to last month hydro contest - https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/1393-omega-s-150-bubbler-contest.html
