Spray Painting Flood Trays White

Hi I have a traditional 4 x 4 flood tray and it is black. Thinking about to increase reflectivity in the grow room by spray painting it gloss white. Or just putting some aluminum foil on it.. is there any reason you can think of why not to do this?

1) the resulting reflected light is near worthless because the light above only penetrates too far. trim up your plants to this point, adjust lights above accordingly.
2) paint is likely toxic
3) foil would result in a big mess

If you want to provide more light then put another light above if you can, otherwise consider
alternative training to maximize the light you have. Like a scrog, short and squat young plant(s) flowering in an even canopy
can outperform many large plants I've seen. Train and top in veg. I once used a mini laundry basket in a locker cabinet. I cut a hole in the bottom and as she grew up inside the basket I trimmed and weaved every new meristem into a new hole, in and out to fill all of them. when they were full I flowered under a 250 watt hps and it was awesome. good luck

Thank you.. That makes sense.. scrog it is next time around... so much more efficient indoor when height control is an issue...

google scrog images for some really cool ideas for your space. I used to love growing this way, like a hobby, now I got a room, like a job

For sure.. harvesting style will change too i assume, i usually like to hang the whole plant from a coat hanger. with scrog I'd probably have to cut up most of the plant I would think.. maybe can still hang big pieces from stems using close pins

a proper scrog will produce multiple short single colas, one per each hole in the screen. Each cola can be hung to dry as a a whole plant could be.
