Nice that's called light stress training. Essentially opening the plant up to get more light in there. I did this last year. the trick is after the inner shoots get tall clean up the foliage underneath and produce many large colas.

this early in the year, I use the "gas lamping" system......I turn on a T-5 for an hour in the middle of the night. Interrupts the process of flowering until you are ready for them to flower.
I would love to try that but i have them outdoors i dont wanna be an obvious and annoying neighbor lol
