Spring '17

Smell is real strain dependent. I grew out some bag seed last year that was stinky right from the start. Most of the other strains I had didn't smell until flower. Not many folks walk anymore. Driving by in a car you will never smell it. When I was hiking I would only catch a hint of the CP1 {BP} once in a while, and it was 15 yards from the road.
Honestly I had no idea it was this hard like I have eternal respect for all of you.... Like you literally have to think of all these things before you plant and then once you plant you have a whole bunch of other things to worry about like its a lot of work and dedication

I spend about as much time worrying about detection as I do with the actual growing. My hiking and bushcrafting hobbies are a good cover for being in the woods. Always have a cover story ready in case you do run into someone.

Yeah man I always keep a fishing rod on me and my phone for taking photography pics for "school classes" I am the master bullshitter unless I am literally caught with the plants..... Lol but even then... Its not my property... So I could say I just found them.... Lol so my main goal is find a good secluded spot that I can fense in because I hunt deer and pig in the same area.... And I know they are there.... So maybe I can go pick up some hair from a salon... And also put that in my fensed area.... Then I should be fine.... As long as I have adequate sun.....

Another thing you might want to do. I always wear a turkey {camo} mask when I go to my plants. Law enforcement will put out cameras when they find a patch. I had two cousins get popped a couple of summers ago with cameras.

....... Well..... I myself have cameras too for deer hunting....... I also have bolt cutters.... So unless the law enforcement has the 500$ cams that send pics to your phone or they come collect their cameras before i take their cam and my plants.... I should be fine....

I'm guessing they are hard to see. The Rabbit Sheriff gets folks all the time on camera trying to kill the fake deer they put out. I'm sure LE's is just as well or better hid.

I just always assume there might be a camera around and act accordingly. As far as I know, none of my plants have ever been found by LE. Now sorry ass dudes who I thought were my friends are a different story. Unless you are growing with your buddy, don't show him what you are doing. If you do, and they do get ripped, you will always wonder if it was him. That is not good for a friendship.

Yes he is my partner in crime

Okayyyy guys one more question for today been reading a lil and most people have very large problems with the smell of their plants.... Im wondering if there is anything o.o can do to mask the smell.... I'm worried about the wind blowing it to a house thru the swamp... Because one of their sons is a cop and I see him durring the 4th of July at that house.... And just my luck... The wind would prob blow right to it instead of into the woods or across a marsh to a lake.... I thought about planting marigolds I heard and rosemary? I also thought about shooting a coin or a few squirrels and hanging them up in order to mask the scent.... Am I just paranoid?

When they are all there for the 4th, are they doing any grilling? If so, it will cover any smell. And most strains don't smell that much until they flower. 300 hundred yards is a long way. I don't think you will have a problem. I would worry more about the land use of the place you have picked to grow. Does the owner come around very often?

In my opinion if plants are getting what they need and things are balanced they don't smell (a lot). I sometimes have 30 plants in a 15x10 area on my roof and they only smell when they are moved around, being touched. Yeah if its windy they give off some smells but its all dispersed by the wind....Happy plants dont reak...

No its literally water locked.... And there's a wall of palmettoss with a width of prob 30 yds so no-one is traveling thru them.... There is a highway on the other side of the palmettoss..... But I'm not worried about that the owner won't be traveling down the marsh where I plan to be.... And I had a cam there a hear ago and got a few deer and hogs but ill be protected from people and helicopters.... So I feel really safe...... And yes they have a family get together and they do grilling and fireworks at night

Sounds like a good spot.

Is 50 yards far enough for smell?
I wouldn't grow that close to people. Not so much because of the smell, but just the fact you have to go check on it so often, you will likely be seen sooner or later. But then I live where there isn't many people and lots of woods. It might be harder to find good spots where you are. On my bushcrafting thread I mentioned using Google Earth to look for grow spots. I found some good places that way. The picture you get might be a couple three years old, so you would still need to check and see if timber had been cut, or that sort of thing.
