hu yeah,....one, try this method to germinate your seeds. take a napkin and soke it room temp water, fold it in half and put the seeds in the middle of the napkin put the napkin in a ziplock bag and keep in a warm dark spot, check once a day for sprouting,...with in a few days you should see roots starting....and yes, i have found with experience that small seeds have a low % of germination rate. And if your seeds are a white color they have a really low germ rate.....and if your gonna use CFL's your gonna need a bunch of them, more then 2.....using a 45watt CFL your gonna need about 4 or 5 of them for one plant for good results, you can prolly get away with using just 2 but you wont get very good results...

You don't need any lights to be on for them to germinate and sprout. The easiest method would have to be to get a paper towel and fold it up with the seeds evenly spaced in the paper towel. Put the paper towel in a plastic bag and put enough water in the bag for the paper towel to completely absorb and then seal the bag and let it sit in a warm dark place for 2-3 days. They'll generally crack and sprout by then. THEN put them in soil.

I let my seeds germinate until the root is 1/2". Then I poke a hole in the soil just deep enough for the seed to barely see the surface. Usually 2-5 mm from top of soil. All mine sprout in 1-2 days with two 40 watt shop lights.

You can sprout in soil, on a napkin, in a cup of conditioned water, and a few other ways I suppose. Ther is nothing wrong with what you did, but it may take two or three weeks to see any spouts.

You may have just gotten a "bad" seed, only nature knows. I would keep it in there though, who knows what will happen in another day or so.

sorry i should have been more clear. i let it germinate till i saw a little root then i planted it not very deep in a small clay pot and put it directly under the 2 CFL's i got (i plan on getting more but im just eagerd to get a plant started). waterd it about 3 times a day cause it seemed to be drying up fast.

should i let it germinate till the root is really long or is it okay if its just breaking out alittle bit?

and it may take up to 2 weeks under my lights to sprout?

so i geuss my question really is how do i get this bugger to pop out of the soil.

I germinated seeds using damp towels. All of my seeds germinated and are now in soil under my 200w Enviro light. It's been a tad over 24 hours and nothing has poked through the ground. Anyone know how long I should wait before worrying?

watering it three times a day can kill them. when you planted the germ seed in the soil did you plant it with the root pointing down? thats the proper way of planting..if you don't do it that way you will make the plant work harder because she has to turn herself around and reach for the light. you should get more cfls too.
