square or round pots for soil

I am wondering if its ok to use square pots. Sounds rediculous but square pots would use the space better. I am asking cause seems logical but all of the pots you can buy are for the most part round.

Very few larger square ones. I would think the more soil you have in the pot the better. If was using 9inch around why not use Square 9x9.

Yes I found that out the hard way. I sufficated my babies.
What does this mean? You aren't going to kill your plants by having a bunch of them in close proximity to each other. The only way you can suffocate a plant is by putting it in a vacuum. Did you put your plants in a vacuum? You could also do them harm by using CO2 and having in excess of 2000PPM of Carbon Dioxide for a couple of days.

Square pots are very commonly used by growers to minimize space and work just as well as round pots. Just get the right size for your needs.

More soil = more room to stretch = more yeild. this idea is old.
More Roots is the desired effect. Air Pots are something to consider.... If more roots in the same space is your thing ... >>> http://www.superoots.com/air_intro.htm# <<< Disclaimer I dont work for the Caledonia Tree Company... I am simply making people aware that Air Pots exist.. but I am very much down with all things Caledonian including the eldritch croonin of certain acoustic instruments, Haggis & Uisge

What about width versus depth? I just quartered a 12 gallon "tote" to maximize soil space. each section is about 8"x10" and 12" deep. No more wasted space with round pots in a square section.

That got me wondering about width versus depth. I would assume "As above so below". So, do wide pots make wide plants and deep pots make tall ones?
I'm guessing soil moisture might become an issue if you went to narrow and deep. Top dry and bottom too wet.

BTW just checked my previously droopy clones and they are perked up and greened out bb! HahaHA! (Gotta say it.) TY RIU

square pots, you dont get that star of empty space between round pots bunched together.

width versus depth on the root cluster? i say space is space
