Square vs. Round Pots

I have been using Smart pots for years now with coco and have never had a issue. After the grows when removing the root ball from the smart pots there is no sign of root bound at all. The main reason I like the fabric is the breathing factor, the O2 levels stay fairly consistent through the root zone.
Well coco actually works better when it is rootbound so I would assume that's why you have no issues. Try that in soil and your plants are gonna start looking terrible. For the same size coco plant I can grow in a 3 gallon smart pot I would need at least a 10 gallon smart pot to keep it from getting rootbound.

A smart pot isn't going to have the roots circle like a plastic pot but what happens is the media keeps filling up with roots and gets super tight which is ideal in a salt coco grow. A soil grow though your not gonna have enough organic matter left to feed it and it's gonna choke out the oxygen to the roots.
