shit guys weve been gettin heat spiked for sure round here..im sure of that cause ive been working on a roof tear off.hotter than shit.. but even with the hot spike my bud room has sat around 78, and when its cooler at night its round 73. not bad..i attribute that to my portable a/c..cause without it sits around 80-85 thus far with daisy chain action..def wont need a/c winter time. my veg area . with the floros , cfl, and 400wmh have been sitting at 80-82 with just intake and exhaust active air blowers..

ya bro 100 suks especially when ur actually working in there.. i mean thats a sweaty sawdust bitch.. i think youll def get it down once u have it all sealed up , with ur huge ass exhaust. but ya sounds like ur fit to replace that a/c next summer for a bigger more effecient model, maybe one with that supposed energy compliance smart feature.. the compressor expends less energy, meaning longer life and lower bill, all supposed.

its funny the temp reads 90 degrees but it don't fell like it do to all the air flow moving around.

oh yea.. i have PLENTY of air circulation going... gotta keep the air moving... it feels more like mid 80s with an ambient temp around 100.. and the res is sitting right below a fan so im hoping the constant air movement around it is keep it a little cooler.. which i think it is...

i was just looking online a little.. and i think i am going to see if a can borrow the loot for a chiller, an 8 inch exhaust fan, and a 250 gph pump... i think the chiller is the most important thing tho... i could give 2 shits about the ambient temp as long as the water in the res is at like 65 to 70.. which, from what i can tell, will be about what i can get it down it... it says to install the chiller in a space with at least 6" on each side and 1.5 feet of space front and back.. for air circulation... and also not to install it in a closet.. now i assume the closet thing it based on the closet not being exhausted and the heat just building up.. but since i have an exhaust fan pushing air into the attic in the sealed off closet in the grow room, do you think it would be ok to stick the chiller in there?? since all the heat would be pulled and exhausted into the attic??

the 8" exhaust fan i want to get is 750 CFM, so if i get it all i would have a chiller, a 6" air-cooling-light fan, and an 8" just random exhaust fan.. not to mention when i get the flower room up at least 2 more 6" fans or 1 - 12".. so temps will be fine then...

guess my only question for you guys is if you were me would you try the 8" exhaust fan and see if that cools the room by removing the hot air, or just say fuck it and get the chiller?? the chiller is about 200 more than the fan.. but at least the important thing (the res) would be chilled for sure.... or should i just drop the $$ and get both??

Heat sucks. For me, it's really not that easy to keep it at the perfect temp... However, it would be if I had a lot of money. But for now, I'll just keep ghetto cooling it down. At least it only gets up to 85 at the max. I don't even want to think about dealing with a grow that had to battle 95+ temp readings.

whats up FEN?? glad you could check out the grow..

yeah these temps are WAY out of control right now... i feel like im doing all the same things i did when i sat up my first grow room, all over again... most of the additional heat is from the veg bulbs in the floros.. they are MUCH hotter than the flower bulbs.... but as of right now there isnt much i can do.. i am praying to the MJ god that the roots of my girls dont get cooked due to my res temp.... and its apparent to me that a couple of them are getting there... growth is REALLY slow right now... the good news is i should be able to put the water chiller in the closet like i want... seems to be about 10 degrees cooler in the closet because the exhaust fan that is pulling the exhausted air through the can filter and pushing it into the attic is a 400 CFM fan in a 70 cubic foot closet... it will definatly pull the heat out of it from the chiller.. thats for sure... just hope they have them at the hydro store i am going to go get my order from today... its a new store so i dont know what all they have in stock...

i am glad non of you guys have to deal with temps quite like this... or have to worry about your roots cooking from the temp!! shits stressing me oUT!

when you hit 105 degrees for weeks during flower let me now.... and to tell you it did not hurt my yield any at all. as long as you can move that air around and exhaust most of the heat it will not affect your yield in a bad way at all.

Yeah, the way I got my shelf set up, I had a 4 foot fluoro light underneath the plant... However, someone told me that it shouldn't be underneath the pot, just the plant. He said I was heating the roots and that I wanted to avoid that as much as possible. I didn't even think about the light heating up the underside of the pot. I have since then moved it for side lighting. I don't even really need it, but the more light the better, right?

thats crazy bro.. i would SHIT bricks.. i dont think i would be trippin so much if it was soil... but i just worry about the roots sitting in 80 to 90 degree water every flood.. i think they be ok.. and if not... well... fuck me... have to start over.. luckily im not that far into the actual grow.. i would be sick if it was like this in flowering or even 4 or 5 weeks after i started veg... really my greatest dissapointement is letting you and TM down... such wonder seeds and now all sorts of shit problems...

more light is better for sure.. the floro under the pot wouldnt put off enough heat to affect the roots... but it is better if it is just under the plant... although if you could put the floro vertically, and just rotate your pot a 1/4 turn every day, it would maximize the amount of plant your light would get to... and as long as you turn it a 1/4 turn or so a day every side of your plant, top to bottom, would get light exposure.. just an idea.. if you have the space..

alright.. so here is the update...

i got my new lights in... got 2 x 400w lumatek digital ballasts... 2 x sunleaves artic sun reflectors... 2 x sunleaves optilume HPS bulbs... an areator for the res.. a reservoir thermometer.. and a free chew toy for my dogs, which was destroyed in an hour... i also placed an order for a water chiller, a submersible pump for the chiller, 2 gallons of ph down, and 8" 700 CFM fan, and 25 ft of thermoflo duct....

i got the lights hung in the same fashion as the floros.. on a PVC pipe so i can raise and lower with a fair amount of ease... i used the 6" exhaust fan to air cool the lights.. although the way i have it set up isnt the best.. but it really doesnt matter at this point cause temps are up until i can get the rest of the work done...

while i was putting the lights up though, i slipped and fuckin fell on a floro, which brought down both of them... so like it or not the white shark and and og kush got super cropped right then... we'll see how that goes........:wall:

so here is my plan...

right now i am just gonna deal with temps as they are.. either the girls i have going are gonna die or they arent.. and now its a little to late to really stress about it.. so im leaving their fate to them... the water chiller and other stuff will be in prolly tuesday or wednesday.. im going to just suck it up and let things be until then.. just try to keep enough air moving around that the girls stay somewhat happy... i was going to plug the a/c in in another room to try to cool my upstairs... but the person who helped me install the wall dropped it from the second story window.. and yea.. no more a/c...

anyways.. i am going to move the wall mount fan i have up to the side of the room you see the exhaust fan on... this will push the air towards the grow room door and out of the confined space in the back of the veg room... i am going to replace the insulated duct with the thermoflo, which will be easier to run.. the insulation is so thick it makes it a pain in the dick to run well... the 8" fan will be very close to the exhaust room pulling the hot air from the back of the grow room towards the front and then exhaust into the exhaust room... so ill have the 6" fan, much more efficiently ran, cooling the lights and pulling some heat out of the room... and the 8" fan just used to exhaust the room.. all by tuesday.. i may end up trying to fuck around with the 6" fan and location but i dont think it will make much difference right now... things are just the way they are and there isnt much i can do until i get things done and finished...

so theres a couple new pics... just of the new shit and the way the room looks now... gotta go some clean up and straightening up of cords and shit.. but i helped my pops out this morning and this evening, which only gave my a couple hours this afternoon to get shit done.. and with this heat and everything im about whooped.. tomorrow is another day tho... ill do work then...

ok so just to start off with this is not something that i just threw in and call it, IT WORKS.
this is something i have been doing now for about 2 years. 100% safe to start of with. i would not be on here telling you that its safe and its not, family does not do that to family and you all are like family to me... so the videos says it all. but my ? to you all is, is just how much money would you have saved buy eliminating unneeded ballasts.

thats cool shit... i would have been freaking out trying it the first time... a lot of ballasts now work either HPS and MH.. i know the digital ballast can take either... so i only need 1 ballast per HID i use.. and can use either HPS or MH in it... there is a 600w one that uses the conversion bulb.. but other than that i just need to throw whichever bulb i want to use in... all the ballasts come with warrantys so i dont want to fuck with trying a different watt bulb with the ballasts.. i know that would void the warranty.. but its good guys like you bro who show shit for what it really is... really, i wonder why you would need two different ballasts anyways?? if a bulb is 400w, its 400w.. i would think as long as the socket accepted the bulb it wouldnt matter as long as the bulb wattage doesnt exceed the ballast wattage... good shit tho bro.. i thank you for all those who are yet to buy ballasts and were gonna purchase two seperate ones!!:clap::clap::clap:

fuck yea ive had some problems... not anything i didnt really expect or think could go wrong.. just sucks... and most everything is depedant on everything else... if i had the water chiller already, tho, i wouldnt have any real worry... oh well.. thanks for the support!! i am confident i will get it together.. had my moment of doubt.. but seedlings die... not every one has 100% growth rate with their girls... SHIT HAPPENS!! glad your all zen'd out with some good opium... havent had anything like that around for a long long time!... oh and i think your praying worked... went in to check things out and temps were down to 80f!! i cant beileve im actually excited about 80 degree temps.. usually that shit would have be freakin!! but never been so happy to see 80 in my grow room before... i have lost 3 of my girls so far.. but i have 6 soma seeds germing to make up for them... just hope things stay steady for a while.. it feels like today is finally gonna be below 90 out.. should help tremendously!

my final dried weight was just over 25 ounces.. ended up with a .43 grams per watt average.. which, given the situation im very happy with.. would have liked to have more.. but cant really complain with what i got..

as you can see from the new pics i pretty much have a soilid conopy of light over the girls.. still keeping numbers low.. just opting for bigger girls.. i just think in the end ill be better off... so for the veg room i have 2480w's.. 1680 of the floros.. and 800w of HPS.. i am only using the HPS bulbs this grow because i have to flower on the same side again.. didnt get to expand like i wanted so... but once they burn out itll be switched to MH...

as far as the a/c... here are the things you have to weight... a window a/c you dont have to worry about exhausting.. since it is in the window it exhausts itself out side.. which means no heat... but you are at the mercy of where the window is... a portable a/c can be moved into the tent, which means you can run it a little cooler and not so hard, since the area its cooling is where the a/c is... but you have to exhaust the heat from it... i personally would try to use the portable and keep the window as an exhaust window.... but it just depends on where you would exhaust the heat from the tent if you had the window unit and if how you would exhaust the heat from a portable....






so like i said temps got down to the low 80s.. and are still there this morning... its a LOT cooler today than its been.. not waking up to 85+ degrees outside is great... ive lost 3 girls so far.. pretty sure its 2 chemdog and 1 og kush... the BB and WS are fuckin fighters for sure.. the WS corrected the unintended super crop she got yesterday.. so i know they are still responding a little... but growth is stalled almost... ill take stalled growth over death knowing that in a few days growth will increase 10 fold with the addition of the chiller and a second exhaust fan... so things are starting to look up... slightly.. but you cant really go anywhere but up when your at the bottom right?!

wait tell2day when you see my 400wtt MH bulb running in my 1000wtt HPS BALLAST....i have said it can be done 100% safely.... a ballast is like a generater that is the max wtts it puts out but not to the bulb., so you can run two 400wtt lights off one 1000wtt ballast. ill make sure my video isn't over 10 min.2day...

it was like that for me on myspace untillme wife had to upload a new update to allow us to here again.. itwas wierd.. look into that..it could be your problem

really?? that is weird... hmmm.. ill do some checkin and see if i need any updates.. i wouldnt think so because my computer is only about 2 months old... but then again microsoft has updates every other day so....
