Stable Strain to breed

Hello,
I have been given an opportunity.. a freind gave me some clones of a strain that he has been growing for 2 1/2 decades, he has no idea what the strain was, just that a friend brought the seeds from Amsterdam, and he's been cloning them since. He also told me that in that time he has never had one of the clones hermie or throw a male flower, so it's a stable strain or he's very good or very lucky ;). (BTW: I kept one as a mother)
These plants have a high yield,8-10 weeks flowering time and grow out with fat sugar coated buds that have a bit of a skunky odor and a mild mouth (and mind) numbing almost menthol flavor when smoked. The only con that I have run into (three grows from clones) is that every branch needs to be tied up because the stems are very thin, almost vine-like and if I let them they would stretch a lot, (I am growing indoor and do LST) and as the buds get dense/heavy would fall over.
I'd like to try my hand at breeding these and I have done some reading on the process and understand it, I know I need a male with good genetics or pollen from good genetics. I can get my hands on some ww regs but I'd like to see what suggestions I might get here?

Take a clone and use Colloidal silver on it- then get a bunch of different fems that you like of other strains and keep that as the father and the other strains as mothers for your "collection" It would make it so you could use that to cross witha wider variety of flavours other than just one strain

Romulan is pretty stable and to be honest there are quite a few I could list such as skunk #1 bred with her before stable and strong :)

northern lights, skunk#1, deep chunk and x18 from tom hill, cinderella 99, afghan#1, hindu kush, basically any landrace I know theirs more but thats what I got off the top of my head. but I would not make fem seeds out of it I would breed it with regular seeds only.

Yeah.. I'm looking to keep it stable so making fem seeds is out. I have some seeds I got in Jamaica (bag seed) but who knows what it's genetics are, I guess it can't hurt to try though. Everything else I have is bagseed or Fems. I'm going to look at some seed banks.. maybe I can get a deal on a mix of regs from the suggestions I get here ;)

hmm.. I have some Blue Mystic going too, but it was from fem seed. I'd probably be guaranteed hermies if I did that with BM clones.
Just did some reading on CS, interesting.. one question. I have the clones that are stable and the BM clones that had a fem mother - which one would be best to turn male?

hey just want to make sure you've heard of silicon solution, it may help with your node issue.

I would think that the clones of the plants that have been growing for 25 years without throwing out a male flower would be the first choice for using the CS on...

So, the pollen has more influance on the breeding.. I guess if I'd have read a bit more I would have found that out. :weed:

Thanks SA

well.. had some seeds ordered but the Card Payments didn't work. I take that as a sign..lol. I germed the bagseed from my Jamaican trip last year and 5 out 6 popped so maybe I'll get something out of that. If nothing else I'll get some experience from it and see where it goes.. (the local weed we had in Jamaica was decent but seedy and needed dried properly) so who knows, I could get crap but might get lucky...
