Start 12/12 flowering with 6400k light

My plants are a bit over vegged, and I have a flowering light arriving end of week, beginning of next week. I'd like to switch from 18/6 to 12/12 as soon as possible, what would the effect be of starting the 12/12 with 6400k cfl's, and running that way for around 4 days? Any other tips for a smooth transition into 12/12?

THX

Dont worry about bumping, its sad noone has given you a response to a simple question.

No It will not effect them at all, just be REALLY careful when you put up that HPS because #1 the plants wont be able to take the intensity from the HPS so hang it higher than you normally would for the transition to a HID light, if you see white/yellow spots right after you switch lights that means hang it higher!

There is no problem whatsoever in starting your flowering with a "veg" light for a few days.

In fact, some might argue that you're better off with veg lights in place until actual flowers start to form anyway (which is 1-2 weeks after doing the light switch).

Whether or not that's really true, in any case I doubt you'd even be able to tell the difference with just a few days of veg lighting.

Thanks guys, first legit posts I've received on RIU. Was beginning to think it was a no newb zone altogether. Will go for it.

Should I skip a day cycle before going to 12/12? I've read a bunch of conflicting stuff on this question.
