Start led flower room or stay with hps? Insight on reputable led fixtures?

Should I stick with hps to flower or start an led flower room?

if I were inclined to try a cob in a tent or corner, with comparison in mind, to the 1k hid's,
what product would you rec? cost?

well thank you sir!
one more brain pick.....where would I buy this ready to use.
led's in the past have left me with failing sections, are these serviceable? lifespan?
and do the diodes become less efficient like with use?

many tanks

out of stock, but in my basket. I'm stuck in my ways you know, and if this purchase changes my techniques I'll be
forever indebted to you. thanks for your help, i am a pita I know.

I understand I can plug this right into my 220 light controller with the hid's?
do the diodes burn out ever? will it be a screw in fix or mail in wait.

They should not burn out for 20+ years. It will be a quick mail in and wait. They're pretty good about it.

ok, so 300 bucks isnt a big deal when considering hid vs this t2, so why are hid ballasts still being sold? the jigs out of the bag, is it because of people like me poo poo ing led's? lol

Perhaps it is because for equivalent output the initial investment for HID is lower? Lots of people don't look at life cycle costs when making purchasing decisions..

So if I have a 5' X 5' flower running a 8 site UC I would need 3 T-4s? And that will be the equivalent of how many 1ks? I currently have 4 1ks 1 for every 2 plants

Also what kind of heat are these things producing?
Heat is a function of total input power. 2,000 watts of HID or 2,000 watts of LED will in the end product 2,000 watts of heat. The heat advantage of LEDs is when you run multiple chips at lower power thereby turning more watts into usable light than HIDs. Depending on the details of the LED build, 1,200-1,600 watts of LED might be similar to 2,000 watts of HID, or in other terms, 20%-40% less heat. But again, it depends on the specifics of the build; e.g., number of chips, type of chips, how hard they are driven, etc.

Thank you for your response. Does anyone know if theres a Wattage > BTU chart or anything like that?

And once again if someone could comment on the difference of footprint between 3 T-4s and my Current 4 1k HPS.

true, hid packages can be had for a100 bucks I see, ballast, hood and bulb even.
If I was running a commercial grow I'd for sure be looking at life span of these first, but you're right, home growers dont often

I mean, I don't care, personally, but while COBs have been around for ten years, they've probably only been used in horticulture for 3 years or so. This is likely why the mainstream still uses HIDs.

Thanks for all the input from every angle my friends. I have heard hugely mixed reviews on these guys, but take a minute to watch this video and tell me how you feel about it?

Those are panel LEDs. Don't use them. Ever. 89w of COB > 1000w of Platinum LED.

Ok I browsed around the links you posted and the sites are confusing as hell. I would be using 2 1000w hps for my new room if I chose that route, what do you guys recommend for a cob replacement?
