Starting a new grow

I will be starting a new grow and this will be my first...ive been trying to learn by involving myself with my friends grow that he is having so many issues...all of my previous posts have been for my friends grow....trying to help him...

I will be using FF ocean soil with the FF trio package.

Vegetation stage will be set to 3 weeks and then i will put them into flowering.

From what i read so far it would seem like a good idea not to give any nutrients for the first 2 weeks...Just plain water with a very minor dosage of cal-mag.

Is this a good start?
Or should i add abit of the grow big and big bloom during these 3 weeks of vegetation?

was think of adding a third of recommended dosage for 3 weeks.

Reason i ask is because i see alot of new growers experiencing nutrient burn and lockout using the nutrients during veg.

Just to make sure i will be doing this once a week.....Should i water every 3 days? Or will the feeding dosage be enough for a whole week?

Props on the reading up and checking out other people's grow before jumping head first in and posting the age old "i got a seed start under my desk lamp, how many ounces am i gonna get?" haha... i would think your veg. stage may last a little bit longer than 3 weeks, and you're dead on with holding off on the nutes, you can NEVER take back burning a plant, you can ALWAYS correct nutrient deficiencies. i usually dont add anything until the 4th node "set" of leaves fully opens up and then whatever they suggest for dosage i use 1/4 of that and work my way up with the dosage, every plant is different so you may find your plant eating more than mine did. the plant will tell you everything, if you give it too much water it's gonna droop, if you give it just the perfect amount, it's leaves are gonna shoot up in the air like a person holding their hands up to the heavens praying. I've only used Nursery Ferts, no Fox farms or advanced or anything like that so i'm not sure on dosing that and how the plants handle it. and as far as watering, if you can stick your finger in the soil about 2 inches and feel moisture, you dont need to water yet. that's a general rule of thumb i use. Good luck with the grow man, and keep reading up! the info. is out there
