I plan to mix worm castings peat perlite and organic soil.

Is this sufficient, if so what ratio should I incorporate?

Your best bet is to start with an all-purpose media, I use only MiracleGro Potting Mix. MG makes a ton of different dirts so make sure you get the PM. Most all the "starter" soils I've tried were much too thin to be beneficial. The MG PM is formulated to feed a plant for 3-6 months so you know your gals will be getting all the basics without you having to tweak anything. The MG Potting Mix has 15% perlite included for moisture control so you are already good there. Go ahead and mix in some worm castings if you need to do something to the media. Personally, I trust the pros and keep my labor to a minimum at the same time. BigSteve.

3way what u have there I a a find starting mix. Wen u mix soil for seedling u want to have as little nutes as possibleso that u dnt burn them at such a early stage. MG is awfulfor seedlings unless u get the seedling starter mix (.05-.10-.05) & IMO u would be ok with 60% soil 30% perlite 10% worm castings

any mg can do the trick i personally prefer the african violet. i also like to mix in a bit extra perlite , i go half and half you end up needing to water more something like once a day to everyother. then i slowly give mg bloom booster up to half tbsp per gallon..little mollasses ocassionaly and all is well

Fantastic everyone. I am going to try both methods to see the results. I love trying different things. You never know until you experience it.
