Starting new seeds today-Frequent updates with pics

Hello again,

I got quite a few nice reviews with this strain early on, details in these threads:

https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/123794-day-28-flowering-pics.html

https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/116367-new-grow-new-strain-check.html

https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/124110-1st-journal-unknown-new-strain.html

The end result of what started out so promising is that eventually all 3 plants turned hermaphrodite. I identified and fixed a light contamination issue in the flowering closet, so hopefully there will not be any more issues. Since all plants were dropping pollen like mad, I cut them all down early, but only by about 1 week. I didn't want to infect the closet with a bunch of pollen, so I removed them all. It turned out to be a decent harvest, I can't say I'm disapointed with the results considering they crystal production and bud growth stopped when they went to seed. You can't really tell from the one pic, but the cola is like 12" long.

Anyway I'm starting a new run of the same strain today, 12 seeds sitting in Jiffy pots. No pics yet, nothing to see except soil in pots in the nursery. I'll post pics as soon as they poke up out of the soil.

The grow details are identical to the last one ecept for one major component-the soil. I found this soil at OSH that is a generic organic potting mix and it has some really good shit (literally) in it. Most of the same exact ingredients as FF Ocean Forest but about half the price. One major difference is lava rocks and steamed rice hulls instead of perlite, but most of the rest is the same.:peace:

It's hard to say how much it came out to, I don't have a scale!! I wouldn't mind having one just to see how much I yeild, but I just grow for personal smoke so I don't really need one. I picked some of the smaller nugs off the branches today and it filled up one mason jar-about an ounce. I'll probably fill up 2 or 3 more, so maybe 4 ounces? 1/4 LB from 3 plants and they went to seed, they could be so much better!

I'm just about to post an update-birth today!:blsmoke:

I smoked a bowl of their sister today to celebrate!

10 out of 12 are born! I'm sure the other 2 will pop up, but 10 of them came up all at once. Pics with and without the dome are below. I'll let them go until I see a root pop out the peat pot, then they go into small containers under the big CFL for veg. I didn't germinate on paper towels this time, just straight into the soil. I think that's the way I'm going from now on, so much easier!:peace:

Sweet... I bet you have got your fingers crossed for that last one now!

I used the towel mode as i know it works for me and so far ive had 5 out of 8... 4 of the bagseed and 1 northern lights that was yesterday so hopefully they should be breakin the surface soon and ive manually cracked the last 3 and put them back in to the paper towel for one more night then they are gettin potted!

Ill pop back in in a few days see how they are comin along i loved the last plants you grew and to be fair you did fuckin well for sayin they went into seed!

Gonna polinate one bud on my northern lights plant too try make sure i got more seeds for when my greenhouse arrives and i can stick a few in propper sunlight see how they get on out there!

catch ya mate!
Happy tokin.... oh yeh btw does she smoke nice?

The last one popped up as well, so it's 100% for the first time. I usually would get 80-90% success with the paper towels, but I think this is working better. I make sure the little peat pots get bottom heat just like you would if using the paper towel method. The paper towels just became a hassle after a while. If they dry out even a bit then you end up with ruined seeds, plus most paper towels are bleached and have other chemicals in them. Some people swear by it and I tried it for a while, but I'm going to stick with straight to soil from now on.

I kept 6 and 6 went to my partner that went in on the seed creation, so I'll have those 6 to work with. It does smoke nice, but you can tell it's premature and could be better. It has a nice lemon kush taste, smells kinda fruity and lemony and tastes earthy. I can't wait to see how these next ones turn out if I don't have any problems!:blsmoke:

Today is transplant day, the roots started coming out the bottom. I put them into small pots and they will stay there for about 1 month. I kept 6 seedlings and gave 6 to my partner that went in on creating the seed stock for this strain. 12 out of 12 seeds were a success, seems like a good viable strain!

Too small of a grow area for the final pots. When they switch over to the flowering closet, then they can go into 2 gallon pots. It's a tiny little closet for veg, I need to think about something bigger...

Ahh see i get ya now! Was just being nosey like i prefer to go direct into the final pot with my little peat pots!

Only using 2 gallon for flowering? Do they not suggest 3 - 5 gallon pots?

Sorry to hammer you with questions mate tell me to fuck off if im givin you a head ache lol

I ended up with 2 NL breakin the soil and 3 Bagseeds so i rekon 5 is a good number to get at least 1 FEM... Im gonna add some pics today if i can get my PC upload em...(very unstable internet connection)

Rave Safe mate

Nah, I like helping out. It's a good give and take system, I take advice often from RIU so I don't mind giving back!

The last time I ran one plant in a 5 gal along side my smaller pots and there was not a major difference. I can fit more in at a time if I want, use less soil and actually get more yeild per foot using smaller pots. I could easily go with 12 with the little ones, or only 6 with the large ones.

Nice going on your sprouts, I'm just about to post some updated pics of mine.:peace:

Things are looking pretty good. Some are starting out a bit bigger than the others, just like last time with this strain. At the end they all were pretty uniform in size, but some started with much larger leaves than the others. I haven't had to water them since putting them into containers a week ago, they could go 10 days before needing it. Anyway here they are, cheers.

Day 21, just got back from a holiday trip for a few days. I love coming back to see how much they have grown without being looked at for a few days! Everything is looking good, very much like last time at this stage.

It has been decided that this strain will be named Jack Frost. I'm pretty sure there's already one out there somewhere with that name, but if so it must not be a well known strain (at least around here in NorCal!). The name comes from the parents, the father we called Jack and the mother is a strain called Ice-so we called the offspring Jack Frost.

Here are the latest pics, thanx for checking in.:blsmoke:

Greetings!

The leaves are starting to look nice and fat, just like the last run. Close to 1 month old now, 1 more to go before flowering. Definitely going to have to transplant soon, hopefully I'll have room for all 6 plus the 3 other clones from the original Jack that are just now rooting. I'm not sure if I'm going to make any more seeds yet. It would help to stablize the strain, but I'm happy taking cuttings for now. Latest pics fresh off the press-enjoy:peace:

Here they are after another week. Just put them into larger containers today. It all just barely squeezes into the small veg area that I have, but it will do until they show sex. This strain should start showing sex within the next 2-3 weeks, then I can start thinning them out. So far there is one that is stretching more than the other 5, it would be damn nice if there was only 1 male.

Just took these within the hour, comments welcome-thanks for stoping by.

Today is 41 days since putting them into the soil. Things are looking real nice, no sign whatsoever of sex yet. I thought I would be seing something by now, but nothing is showing. They need to show soon, going to outgrow the space they are in! All of the light problems in the flowering closet are fixed, I can't wait to flower these to full potential!
