how many light hours are needed for vegging?

yes..hps will work..just keep the light about 2 feet off the plants until the get a bit stronger and go with and 18 on and 6 off schedual

veg hrs??? u dont need to calculate it into hrs. Thats up to you... I wait until after they presex on their own... (6-8 weeks) some people stick em into flower after 1 month and are fine with 1 oz from each. Some ppl veg longer.
