Wewt, today i positively ID'ed my first female! :weed: Got two little white pistils coming out at one of the top nodes. I tried to get a pic, but they are so damn small right now it's hard to see them. Now i see why you hardly see pics of early female preflowers...gotta have a good camera. I still have this little runt that is yet to show its sex, so i'm not sure if i should start taking clones or just let this baby grow? Either way, i got budz! :blsmoke: Such a happy feeling... don't let me screw this up! lol

Still trying to decide... I need to hurry up and take the cuttings if i'm gonna clone, but i only have 3 usable pods with the sponge thing. I'd probably need to buy a new seed kit or find some kind of sponge to put into the plastic pod that i cut the males out of. I dunno, i'm thinking maybe i'll just flower what i got. But at the same time i think i should clone ya know? Just don't wanna screw up a good thing.

Ok well i have never grown and i have read this whole thread and a few others. I just bought my AG today and I plan on growing some, but i have a few questions. I was wondering what the pH needs to be, how much light will they need at first, and how do i flower?

im growing some sour diesel in 2 separate AG, basically all i am doing is the veg in the system then removing the lids and placing a 400/600w HPS for flowering. I don't think i would recommend flowering from the factory lid.

Yea i took the factory lid off and used my homemade CFL fixture to flower with. If you are using the AG nutrients, pH shouldn't be an issue, as the tablets should adjust the water for you. If you are buying your own nutrients, then pH should be like 5-6 i think, and you'll have to adjust it to that after adding the nutes. Do a 24/0 light cycle for veg and simply switch to 12/12 to induce flowering.

ok and im a billboard contractor and we get these 400w HID lights like we have box's of them they come 6 a box can i use one or two for a grow light?

I don't know, i've heard that you have to make adjustments to those lights, like take the clear UV filter off or something. If you were going to purchase this light, i'd recommend buying a HID specifically for growing. But since you probably get them for cheap then why not give it a shot? I'd like to know if those work also. All i know is grow lights use the correct spectrums for growing, and i would imagine the HID lights for construction are not in those spectrums.

For the amount of money people spend on the aerogarden, they could have had a nice aquamist for $99 or rainforest from gh for about $150. Guys, come on, I've held the aerogarden in my little paws, it's a piece of crap. It's the most flimsy hydroponic toy I've seen to date. God help the industry. I'm not picking on anyone, I'm just stating a fact. You guys could have gotten something way better for your money with a little bit of research. Don't fall into the hype of late night television ads. Fight the power, then roll it and smoke it. :D

Not saying anyone is wrong, don't take offense. The point I am making is that this is just a piece of crap that should be available at your local hobby shop for a science fair. Not saying it doesn't work, but come on man, it's crap. I've been in the hydroponics industry for a long time. I am not bragging, not by any means, but dude, it's a fad and this company will be out of business before you can blink.

Thanks for your input alex. I had your same thoughts prior to trying the AG, but rollitup.org was really the only reason I tried it. I saw other peoples' success with it, and I happened to run across it shopping at the store...so i bought it. Sure I could have built my own, better system for half the cost, but this is my first experience with hydroponics. The AG is an easy one-stop-shop type of thing, and if it grows then it's worth the time/money to me. Of course next grow, I WILL be building my own system or just going back to good-ole soil, but the AG was just a simple solution for me. Hell, if anything I'll be using it for cloning in the future after I build a real system. I can always use a nice little propagation machine that fits in a very small space. With all things considered, the AG is not really a piece of crap. I mean, afterall, it comes with EVERYTHING you need all in one box, and I'm less concerned with flooding my grow room than I would have been building my own. Simply put, this system is like hydro for dummies, and it makes for a good learning experience.

Thanks for playing,
WoW

Hehe, thx for backing us up dave. I actually posted this in the hydro/aero section instead of doing a formal journal, and in my first post I asked for everyone's comments and opinions... so it's all good. I knew those kinds of comments would be coming, and I like objectivity. Even if this is a cheap piece of crap, I like to hear why...it's all part of the learning process.
